here we go.
Not great filming or flying though. As close as I tried to keep it, this is yet another Nano dot in the sky video...

So does the battery connector have to connect directly to the esc. Can't I just leave it in its stock position?

You can yes. But most people have found better performance taking the battery directly to the esc.

Wow! HUGE difference soldering directly to the esc compared to the stock wire!

"Wild" kit
Hmmm... been flying a couple of brushless Nanos ever since Astroid made their conversion kits. And I've been using the "Mild" kits.
I recently finally dropped in a "Wild" motor. And man what an improvement! Even with the best batteries (MyLipo 205 mAh) it's a bit too weak with the "Mild" HP03 motor. With the "Wild" motor it was definately more like it should be! And a std tail worked just fine. Even as long flight times! Highly recommended! Specs: HP03SPE 16600KV brushless motor with 7tooth pinion HP03SPE 13500KV brushless motor with 7tooth pinion So we are talking 23% more KV here

HH B/L kit
OK, so I wanted to just try this as well.
I found power to be an improvement over the stock brushed motor. But I got MASSIVE tail blowouts! It's a mCPX now... I've soldered on a TeamXtreme 7mm tail motor, if that doesn't help I guess a V curve is next. Seems pretty clear that B/L outrunners are far better (yes I knew / have heard long beforehand)

After lots more flights I must say I'm really happy with the Wild Nano now!
The HH B/L kit is just too weak. It's actually weaker than the stock motor not to mention a good MMW motor. But it'll last of course. Tail hold is also a wee bit worse vs brushed. So all in all it's clearly advised to go for an outrunner, as long as you are able to solder.

Iv had the hh bl kit direct soldered for a couple months and it has plenty of power over stock and even the mmw. I agree its no outrunner but i think its a good option if you get it cheep. The my lipo batteries work best for me with this setup and i get 4 minutes of constant flips rolls and some ugly attempts at tic tocs. The only part i dont like about this kit is weight.

Then it's probably like Jon pointed out: A few random kits are ok.
I've also direct soldered and I use new MiLipos... but it su*** big time! No matter I'm now enjoying the XK K110 - it's great!
