Default Mushy Collective

This is my first 450 size heli, so I am not sure what it is suppose to be like, but the collective feels very mushy, or slow to respond. I have a stock Warp, RJX blades, 12 deg, and 3000 head speed.

Do I need more head speed? More pitch?

Lets share some setups.

What's you're cyclic pitch? ( elevator / aileron range )
It should be around 8 degrees.
Put you're blades at 0 degrees and move you're right stick forward and measure with a gauge what's you're cyclic pitch.

And witch FBL unit you're using.

The cyclic is fine, it is just a mushy collective.

It is a VX1e.

I did find a collective pitch boost function that I will play around with.

Could also be the blades... Somehow I felt the need to reduce expo on my Tx when I was setting up my X3. I am using RJX main blades and I felt the cyclic response especially at lower headspeeds was somewhat delayed.

I have read other people saying the RJX blades are soft also. The Warp went in this morning, so I get to try new blades. I have heard good thing about Zeal, but is there something else I should be considering?

Make sure all the linkages are sized correctly.

I'm very close to your setup and I don't have collective issues. I prefer the RJX blades myself. It makes moves like piroflips and zero pitch maneuvers a bit more forgiving around center stick. But once I dig into the collective, the heli responds sharply.

in my MSH Brain fbl unit i can program 3 different flight conditions.
Beginner / Sport / 3d / Hard 3d

I've linked the beginner / sport / 3d modus under channel 7 on my futaba transmitter and receiver under a switch. So i can switch between those conditions during flight and on the field.

The main difference between those conditions is the agility of the cyclic respons.
Beginner is very slow, and 3d much faster and directly

I think you have also something like this in you're system.

I bought the heli used and all links where smooth. I will relink the whole heli when doing the rebuild.

Yes I have it too, but since this is my first VX1e, I wanted to keep it simple.

And again the cyclic feels great, fast and crisp. It is just the collective that feels mushy.

I would, as others have mentioned above, different main rotor blades.

I have used the stock ones and two different variations of the KBDD's and the collective was nice and sharp.

You might find this thread interesting, as the O.P. had exactly the opposite issue-machine was too sensitive on collective. I went back and found it when I saw your thread:

The warp is very aggressive on pitch, very weird (align blades +stock motor)

With the Collective Boost at 0% the Vortex does not manipulate the collective in any way; if it feels mushy either you don't have enough collective range or the servos need to torque.

So when rebuilding the Warp after a crash, I found that I had installed the lower bearing block upside down. The bearing had started coming out, introducing vertical play. This play was making the collective slow to respond, This is now fixed and should be all good now.
