Default Setting Total Pitch

In setting the total pitch, I understand that this needs to be done with the blades perpendicular to the boom. If the swash is level, why would this make a difference? Just an educational question to better understand cause and affect.

I always set mine with the blades along the boom.
Then it is easy to spin the head round and be sure you are in the same spot.

Collective pitch may be checked in any rotor position.

Cyclic travel needs to be measured where the travel is maximum for the direction of input. This is why Vstabi software instructs the user to place the blades parallel to the boom, as it will input an aileron command for a reference measurement.

Not sure if this answers you question...

I really recommend people watch the Soko Heli tool setup videos. I tried my last setup with their method (however, I used my digital pitch gauge on the grip itself). At the end of the setup - I measured with the gauge on the blade traditionally - and everything was PERFECT.

Not only is it a great way to setup your heli - but it's also really informative. I ended up checking for 0 pitch at both low and high collective using the same method.
