Default Bad ESC? What's up?

My blade 300's been flown only about a dozen times.

The tail servo burnt out on it. I bought a new one and it's shaking like crazy. I took it out quick so it doesn't burn out.

I did some troubleshooting to find out the ESC is doing it. What's the deal?
Strange how it would be only the tail servo.

The cyclic servos act fine.

I put on a separate rx battery pack so the ESC is out of the equation and everything is fine.

Other than the ESC being bad, any thoughts on this one?

CF blades or woodies? That's usually the big one on tail issues due to head speed. Besides that it does sound like an issue with voltage output of the BEC. I also had a problem with the ESC at first but then other strange things occurred that pointed to the AR7200BX. I replaced the ESC on my first 300X and then worked for a short while but eventually had some other issues that had HH replace the 300X without further explanation. Many here have replaced the ESCs with a higher amp unit from Castle and others.

Just some observations.

What's everyone putting on it? A Phoenix 25 or 35?

Phoenix 25 minimum. I still have a batch of three spare HH 25amp ESCs due to my previous issues.

I just tried the YEP45a for the first time today. I don't think I set it up correctly (i think i accidentally set my full rpm speed too low), but the governor function works like a dream!

I'm thinking once dialed in, this is gonna be awesome. Also, its cheaper than the stock esc...and can use it on a 450 bird if i ever need to

Maybe have a look at this 450x thread I did. I also tried this on my 300x and it worked great. Same settings for both motors btw. You can download the manuals on hk. Just go to the files tab when viewing the yep45a or just dowload the manuals for yge escs (same = clone),

Sorry missed reading your request.

These are actually an OEM YGE45 ESC and can use a programming card for basic programming, I have not set up the governor so cannot comment on that but apparently it is pretty straight forward.

Would be nice if they made a 30 amp version that would fit in the 250-300 size heli's better.

Just to clarify, these are an unauthorized clone of the YGE, and are not made by YGE.

My LHS guy has been saying from day one that the stock ESC for the 300X is underpowered and likely to be an early fail item. I mentioned this last Summer and was offered "education" on why this was wrong.

So far my original stock ESC seems to be OK. If it goes I'll be upgrading to something more robust.
