JS TZ Frenzy 90 tail rotor mod
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have already made it clear that I distrust plastic JS tail rotor. It looks like I have finally found an alternative. I have used the following parts: 1) JR 90 spindle - procured from readyheli.com 2) JR 90 CNC blade grips - from cncheli.com 3) 2x m2x16 socket head cap screws 4) 4x m2 washers 5) 2x m2 nuts 6) 2 alloy bushings from one of crash parts (no idea, really) Here is what the result looks like. http://imgur.com/a/b0Hpl/jr_tail_rotor_adopted_on_js Have not tested it yet but it looks sturdy, light, and slop free. I just popped the align 600 tail on there....hub grips everything. Fit perfectly without any modification.

Why distrust ?
Hello,
Don't get me wrong - no offense, but the main reason to buy a Frenzy-90 is, to have the proven/ precise/ agile design geometry of a Vibe-90 SG, but at a reasonable price.. Following my reasoning, to change parts that work going towards expensive Vibe-90 parts doesn't make any sense ? Most people I know flying a Vibe-90 love their machine, but when it comes to kit price and especially spare-prices they hate their machine Many people prefer carbon tails (I prefer KBDD 101mm) and to have a nice combination of soft plastic-resin-tail-grips and carbon-tails this makes sense. Frenzy-90 parts are cheap as cheaps and other than fan-hub and a few other parts, there is no need to push the attractive price upwards .. can you please list the cost of your mod, as this drives my point home .. Best Regards, Oliver |

I'm ten or more flights in on the align tail with zero problems and no maintenance needed! cost me 24 bucks for the whole sha-bang!

24 bucks - makes sense to me
Hello Selfo,
24 bucks for that, makes sense - completely agree with you .. Although, IMO the perfect tail match is soft tail-blade-grips and hard tail-blades versus hard-tail-blade-grips and soft tail-blades .. As I'm completely in to KBDD-tail-blades (from a technical view there's nothing better), you would expect I like some alumina tail-blade-grips. Honestly, completely dislike alumina tail-blade grips, as they are cost way too much hereover.. I crash pretty exactly 5 times per year (average total crash costs about USD 120.- including mainies). So the main backlesh of plastic-grips, having worse bearing seating over time, can be neglected, as this parts will be exchanged at least tripple per year ? But for those wanting alumina parts, definetly would go towards T-Rex 600 tail parts and not the Vibe-90 part cost Best Regards, Oliver P.S: Please accept, that my alumina blade-grip dislike is based as well on the fact, that hereover we pay about twice as much for such parts as you guys in the USA - and compared to Asia they pay about 40% for this parts as what they think to steal from customers hereover .. |

I use the std plastic frenzy grip but did't like the slop or float on the spindle, I know that this is negated by rotational force and the thrust bearings take the loading but me being me had to have it perfect so I did some playing as I do and fitted a 0.5mm flat washer in the mix of bearings in the grip and perfect, no slop and no binding, just perfect.......didn't make a single difference to it's performance, theres just no more free play. :-)

Quote:
the reason of my distrust in the original tail hub is twofold: 1) it had tight spots. 2) it felt flimsy (control links are attached to blade grips with a self-threading screw which feels like I could yank out with my bare fingers). Given the amount of centrifugal forces applied to it and a likely outcome of losing one of the links in flight I decided to go for an upgrade. The costs were as follows: $18 for the spindle $29 for the grips Probably another dollar or so for the rest of the parts. The trickiest part was creating a link between the sliders and the grips, since on Vibe it is offset by almost 10mm, but that's where a creative application of some washers and nuts came in. Altogether the thing feels solid and smooth, almost as smooth as on my 500 with ballraced sliders. |

Thank you
Hello SkyGerbil,
Thank you very much, for your information. So your mod costs around USD 50.- which is not that much. If you buy Vibe-90 SG parts hereover you would be impressed how shameless the spare prices have been set .. Best Regards, Oliver |
