You are jumping to a conclusion now. The same is true for all kind self mixed fuel. Some love a particular brand of oil, other hate it. By the way, most of the time you read that something didn't work out for somebody. That many people had no problems at all you don't read.

I'm not gonna argue anymore about this, I use Aspen 4T with the best oils available and recommended by the engine builders, nothing else.. you use premixed Aspen 2T or whatever rocks your boat. Everybody's happy.

Peace!

No offence meant. I am sure your mixture will work ok. I did some additional research and it seems that Aspen 4T is the same as the Aspen 2T but without the premixed synthetic oil. I am thinking to get some additioanal Aspen synthetic oil and get the mixture to 1:30 or 1:40 for the new engine. I don't know if you can mix two different kind of synthetic oils.

Hi Paul, The reason I'm going to get the Aspen 4 is because I have two bottles of Amsoil Saber oil. The 4 is the same fuel as the 2 just without the oil premixed so it should still last a long time and be fairly oderless etc.

In the past I have just used regular petrol but wanted to try the Aspen fuel, only it was not as widely distributed a few years ago and now there's a shop that stocks it fairly close.

Non taken!

I have professional experience with Aspen Fuels. Their 2T fuel is not made for the extreme engine speeds we are using in our helicopters. That fuel is made for engines that are running at significantly lower rpms = less stress on the parts. There is a difference!

If you're going to add oil to the 2T mix, why not go the whole way and use 4T mixed with the best oils suited for high power, high rpm, high temperature engines? I'm using Motul Synth 2T outboard oil. This oil is keeping my engines clean inside and the engines are running very well with no heat problems. Mix ratio 1:32.

As you already have seen, I started an new thread about this theme. I got a fresh can of 2T for a very good priice. Also I am not going into the very high rpm's (no modified engine) and I had good experince in the past ( als other people I know). I will surely try the 4T with recommended oil in the future.

I have to say, those Goblins are very sexy beasts! I didn't really have much interest in the electric Goblins but the gasser conversions are seriously cool.

Nice! What size blades 550 or 600? Did it take a lot of work to get the motor mounted?

Default Helix 700

My slightly stretched Helix 700maiden flight today (well it had flown before but it's new to me and I also made a few minor changes).

This is with NHP 742mm mains and 110 tails but they felt a bit sluggish to me so next time I'll try some 710s.

Serious lack of bling :-), very stock Helix 700. I think I now have it all pretty close to dialed-in on the SK540. It just seems a little down on power but maybe that's all I can expect from a stock G260. With a little luck I should have a modded 290 arriving soon. Anyway, got in some good flights today although quite windy.
