adjust belt tension?
Anyone know how to adjust the belt tension? Mine is rather tight!
At this time I dont see a way other then trimming some material off the frame side of the boom. I would sure hate to get this wrong! *edit: I read on another forum to take material off the front of the boom. Will try 1mm to start. Last edited by BC; 07-30-2012 at 03:16 PM.. |

Belt tension and keeping it
Xelas,
IMO there are 3 stories about the belt tension: 1) flying hard 3D tighten the belt a little bit more than usual, as a beginner or soft-flying style, thighten it less .. 2) the right belt tension is, when there is no oscillation on the tail .. 3) after having found the right tightening, you need to fix the whole thing .. The tail is hold by 4 M3-screws, many times the belt tension gets weaker, as the tail fixation is not strong enough, to hold. By using one more vertical-stabilizer part, you can push the tail back when fixing and fixing the additional vertical-stabiler part first, afterwards you thighten the 4 screws foreseen to fix the tail. This holds perfectly .. The only thing to keep in mind is, that even fixing the tail perfectly (belt tension), when adjusting it in summer-time, things will be different, when fyling in winter times. In the cold, the tail boom (alumina) will shorten more than the rubber belt, so the belt tension will get less and sometimes you need 2 setups of the belt tension for 2 different seasons. If you can't setup the belt tension or you dislike the temperature influence, go with the torque-tube tail. Best Regards, Oliver |
