Default Acrobat Voodoo 600 build thread

Over the next few weeks I am doing a voodoo 600 build which I will document in this thread

I have determined some components of my configuration, and some I have not decided yet

Helijive 120 HV
Scorpion HKII 4225-610 Extreme motor
10S flight pack
2S receiver pack

Either RJX FS0521 HV
Or Jr 8717 HV cyclic servos
( depends on which fits bests and gives best geometry)

Torq 9188 or Futaba BLS 256 tail servo

Rotortech 620 symmetric FBL blades

Tail blades - not sure yet

I'll be using a translation of the manual, hitch I did using google translate which did a good enough job to actually be an to build this heli

I will be starting this build in a few weeks so stay tuned

Nice. I have a English translation done myself. It's with pictures. It's done electronicly but usable.
Very interested to hear if the v2 4225 stays cool. I now use a rewound mx700 which stays cool and has a lot of power.

My 4225 just run to hot.

started the build yesterday, only to find out i have a 700. I will post progress so far very soon

made it up to the point were the main gear gets installed, waiting on parts to make it a 600, I already have the notor, and i really have enough 700 size helicopters, so wanted this to be a light 600.

there are a few differrences, but it looks like I can go with the 700 parts, except for cutting down the too long tail boom, tail boom struts and rudder control rod. and ordering a new belt.

Does that make sense? the 700 tail boom is larger diameter i think, and uses different belt tensioner, but i think that and the other 700 specific parts will be fine on a 600.

could you measure your tail boom, rudder control rod and tail boom struts for me? want to make sure the cuts are right. Especially i am interested in an accurate measure of the 600 tail boom length

thanks in advance

will start posting my build progress very soon. Lots of pictures

all of my scorpions run hot, its true. I have the latest one I think.

Tailboom=735mm and thinner, you need a new one.
You will need other studs and control rod, also tail fin.

On Plöchingers site look for the conversation kit. You can see what's different.

600 doesn't use a tensioner. You won't need it.

Thanks

I wonder if its actually required when going from 700 to 600, to replace all the 700 specific parts. I am inclined to just cut the tail boom down and use the 600 belt

It would be a beefy 600. Maybe the weight of the thichker tail boom would be too much of an issue

I have an email off to Stephan

Just heard back from Acrobat

The tail can be left as is; just cut down

All I need is the 600 belt and I am in business

The 700 tail is only .1 mm thicker than the 600. That's not enough weight that I care

Will start posting build photos probably tomorrow

I work in Europe a lot, have parts shipped to the shipping agent of the company for whom I work (in Berlin). He holds them for me until i pick them up, or ships to me if I am working elsewhere.

Default Installing the servos (Bag 7)

these are the servo thread plates and the M2.5x12mm socket head screws used to attach them to the frame sides

the servo thread plates plates are installed on the frame sides using one screw each. Use locktite (I am using blue 243, oil resistant), and make sure the holes for mounting the servos are alligned with the holes in the frame sides.

servo grommets are used, with eyelets. Using the specified servos (BLS 451) the allignment will be perfect this way. I am using JR 8717s, so If don't like the alignment of the swash links, I'll go back and adjust this later byusing shims and/or removing the grommets if necessary

CF plates are used between the servo tab eyelets and frame sides

forgot to get a picture of the left frame side. its done the same way, with the pitch (or left aileron) servo also mounted from the outside
