> Just flew two packs and heard nothing strange
Mine is feelable, not audible. Sorry, should have been more specific. - John |

Sorry i misunderstood John
I assume you feel the Buzz without blades and a running motor.. I did some bench running tests without blades, but I'm not critical towards small vibrations in that situation, just checked if everything was running like it should, gyro direction, tail section, swash etc. What it really does in the air, is a whole other story... When the centrifugal load of the blades is present you get a complete different picture Imho. In the Air it's extremely smooth. Eric

I just got my Protos flying nice relative to expo, piro rate and over all feel. But my soft start using the Scorpion Commander ESC is non existent. I have changed all the setting incuding timing, Hz, and motor boost with no success. I have read that this is a Scorpion ESC problem. But what settings are Ideal relitive to the stock motor?
Freq: 8Hz or 18Hz Timing: 20deg 25deg 30deg Soft start: ON! What are your ESC settings? It seems like the soft start is for about 3 seconds not the published 12. When I tried the 18Hz frequency setting the start was so violent that a ball link split and poped off!

Hi McLaren.
I have no idea what settings to use on the Scorpion ESC with the stock motor. The Jazz 80 is actually "plug and play", it finds the ideal settings by itself. I only switched motor direction and enabled Heli/Governor mode.. Maybe it's a good idea to ask Innov8tive design in a mail what to do with this problem. Eric

I did a few days ago and Lucien responded by saying that he is waiting for a response from China....
FYI- I know of two Protos owners that are local to me that both went in hard this weekend due to static. I used 0.025mm thick SS shim stick under the tail box from the bearing to a sanded part of the tail boom. Then wrapped a wire from under the tail box to the motor mount. I am debating if I should finish it off by connecting the motor mount tot he negative lead....This seems over kill thou.

I've read somewhere that fireup fixed the static problem by just grounding the tail boom to the motor mount, and also someone at another forum also did only this to fix it, anyone here has any success by just doing this simple grounding mod?

I also did the mod just like Fireup showed in the ESD topic.
Had no issues btw, but did it just to be save. Tip for a clean installation: I routed the ground wire under the boom through the lower gap in the tail block and on the inside of the frames to the motor mount bolt, it's invisible this way... split the end of the cable in two twisted strands, put an extra washer on the bolt, and twist the two strands again between the washers before you fasten the bolt. Eric

No problems with my Scorpion at the moment. Using the default setup apart from LVC 20,0 volts. Is slow on soft start compared to my Quark on the Rex but once in is on song. Whats it like when you reduce throttle and throttle up again (ala Quark) should be ok. Maybe you got a rouge. Try 0.15 sec delay option 1 on MAT |

And also a BIG thanks to your build review and lots of tips and advices On another note, anyone using 6sA123 on this bird? I'm thinking of going this route, but need more tips and opinions especially from those who're using it(i've also asked the same question in another forum to gain more infos). Any idea on the flight times, headspeed(with 18T pinion), and performance comparing to 5s lipos(i suppose they've the same volt when fully charged)? regards,

Yea, 20.0 is too low for me. I just put back over 2000mha with 20.0. I am changing to 21.0 or 22.0. I don't under stand the initial throttle response is the problem. After the head is spinning I can go down then up smoothly.

Corrado posted this in response to one of my other posts "@HAUCKE don't run 6S on 18T pinion. That will give you a headspeed of 3500, way too much. Do not overspeed the rotor. 2800 is more than enough." Now the question becomes where do you get a smaller gear? Everyone State side is sold out. After reading other forums to include Helifreak it appears that if you are running a 6S1P you should be using the 15T Corrado |

Thanks a lot for the info, but i think you got me wrong, i was asking about the 6s A123, and i'm sure running 6s lipos you really should use a 15T or even 14T not to overspeed the head, cus for the weight of this heli you don't need that much of a headspeed to make it a rocket And yes, the pinions seem to be 'out of stock' everywhere in the US, but it won't be long for them to have the stocks back i guess(hope) cheers,
