Brushed Vs brushless - some actual comparative data
Ok, I've already gone into how i burned out the brushed junk can on my New Timer and fitted it with a 1200kv medusa, but here's some interesting facts.
Brushed speed 480 used 10A on 7x4 master airscrew and consumed about 1200mA in 7 mins of short motor 'burns' (as NASA would say).
Medusa 28-32-1200 on the same prop used 750mA for 9 mins worth of burns, that an average of just 5A. Also, with a slightly better climbout.
The batt pack in both cases was a Kokam 1500 3S 15C.
So if you even wondered if it is worth the expense of swapping out an already fitted brushed motor for a brushless one on of those RTF models - hell yes! As a bonus the medusa is lighter too.
