Default Your favorite Logo 600se headspeed

Hi guys,

I'm curious with what headspeed you fly your 600se
Today I experimented with different headspeeds of (1600 / 1700rpm)
The manual says a maximum headspeed of 1800 rpm

Thanks

My favorite is 1400, it's enough for most of my flight regime. I flip to 1600 a lot as well, if I feel like doing some faster flight. I run the beefier 600SX tail, so I also have 1900 as my last flight mode. I rarely flip that switch, though, flight time goes down drastically and I just don't need it that fast!

Favorite Logo 600SE head speeds?

1300 for hovering, and 1600 for aerobatics (no 3D "collective pumping" type maneuvers). Timer is set @ 12:00 minutes, and the set-up uses on average only about 55% of a 12S 5000mah pack.

Set-up is a Scorp. 330kv motor, 14T pinion, Jive ESC. The 12S 5000mah packs require about 1.5 ounce of weight on the tail to balance, but the heli is too lightly disc loaded anyways with smaller packs (my opinion...others probably have a different view)

Thanks for your info. My setup is 10s 4000mah nano tech, jive esc, scorp motor 500KV, 12T pinion. Main 106. Whats your advice for my headspeed?

I havent got a lot of experience with mine yet, but 1400 is enough for close in smooth graceful maneuvers - flips/rolls/mobius /piro flips/ funnels even slow (cat 2 ) hurricanes... I like 1600 for big fast flying. I'm not a fan of hard collective thrashing, but I think it would need higher still for that. The flight times you can get at 1400 are just astounding though!

@ trexpro,

The 10S / 500kv / 12 tooth pinion has long been the "classic" Logo 600SE set-up. Since the power train was originally designed for a 600 class model (although the "SE" swings "700 class" blades), Mikado's recommendation is for a 10S system...although many go 12S these days, and for the most part, the model handles it except when flown by a very aggressive 3D pilot.

Head speed range is from whatever you can get at the low end going down on the throttle setting as low as say 25% (the Jive doesn't care and handles the low throttle settings just fine), and the upper end should be in the 1800 range (Mikado's upper recommended limit for the model).

Just set-up flight modes picking different throttle settings and see what fits your style

Dave, I got my 600se w. an RJX head and Quick metal tail, already on it. Will that allow headspeeds well over the 1800 limit, or are other parts of the drivetrain (ie, size
of main/tail shafts) still limiting factors?

And no, not planning to push the headspeed way up.........flys VERY sweet just the way it is on 690s, 10s, 500kv, 11t....... Just curious..............

Also, how far can you push blade size? Running 693s now, and blades like Rail are
696..........is that pushing it to 'rekit' territory, or possible??

I'm running 1700 at the moment.

I've just stepped up from a Furion 6 running at 2100 so I'm keeping the headspeed on the higher side until I get my pitch management "under control"

Once I get used to how it flys I'm looking at dropping to 1600.

@ bikneli

With the RJX head and Quick tail, that does allow for safely running higher head speeds. But we're just talking more head speed with those parts, and not how aggressively the model can be flown. Let me expand that thought.

A limiting factor when higher head speeds are used in combination with an aggressive pilot, is the one-way bearing (again, originally designed for a 600 not a 700 class heli). It's no big mystery that you can add a bunch of aftermarket parts on the head and tail making it safe to increase the head speed, and then try and smack the heli around at a higher head speed like it's a true 700, just to see the one-way not hold and/or flat out fail. Add 12S to the mix vs. the designed 10S power, and gear strips can also become an issue when the heli is pushed hard.

So...there's nothing wrong with the aftermarket stuff or running 12S, but the 600SE machine still has limits.

That is in contrast to (as an example), a Logo 700 which (so far as we've been able to demonstrate), within the limits of commercially available battery and motors/ESC power systems, has no limits. You can beat on it as hard as you want, and the machine just takes it (and that's while running 713mm blades), and not just for a little while, but in the long run.

As to the blade length question, Kyle has in the past run the Logo 600SE with a tail drive belt up to 20mm shorter than stock, and even at 20mm shorter, he only needed to shorten the tail blades about 5 mm's to achieve clearance. So I'd think main blades 3mm longer would not be an issue using the stock length belt.

Today I have experimented with different headspeeds, I have flown 1400 1500 1600 and 1700rpm. With 1400rpm and a 10s 4000mah setup a flown 10min and 30% left in the pack, but I dont like the pitch management. 1500rpm is slightly better for my style. Between 1600 and 1700rpm is for me the best headspeed.
1600rpm gives me 7.5min flight time with about 30% left in the pack.

I am running 2100 2200 and 2300 I like 2200 best. Full metal head and tail. CF frame and kevlar belt 12s . Only failure so far is my thumb...lol... I do not fly that aggressive though.

My favorite head speeds are 1600 and 1700 for most of my flight. If I had to choose one I would say 1700 is my favorite for my basic 3D and sport flying.

I run the rail 696/106 blades on my 600se. IMO there is more than enough clearance with the stock head and tail. If the rjx head and quick UK tail are the same size as the stock parts you should be ok.

Dave, thanks for the (As always!) good info! As mentioned, have no intention on running up the headspeed much beyond where I am already at, or at all. Flys toooo
nice just as it is!

Yeah, that 700 is always kind of in the corner of my eye...........
