Talking first death spiral in real life!

I've been practicing death spirals in the sim for probably over a year, but never thought to graduate them to RL, probably thinking my 450 and Protos 500 couldn't do them long enough to be fun. Well today I went for it with the Protos, and had a blast! Took it high, making it a little hard to see, but got three complete revolutions before pulling out. Definitely thrilling to do, and IMHO they looked cool as heck - like a completely non-aerodynamic collection of carbon fiber, aluminum, and plastic falling to its... death.

For those who have not looked, the easiest description I have is take the heli high, tip it on its side (left aileron), center collective so it falls on the knife edge, then pull or push the elevator hard to it spins on the knife edge while falling (faster and faster).

Pull out by centering elevator and use opposite aileron (right aileron) to level out and add collective.

The lower you pull out the more dramatic (but more dangerous and stressful on the heli).

If really talented, you can untilt a little and add collective to slow/stop while still spinning (really tight circle).
