Default First flips :)

So, just got back from an hour up the field. Performed my first flips on the CopterX today

Managed to pull off 2 back flips, 1 forward flip and a left roll (stationary). All done up high and a bit of height lost but did them nonetheless. Think I need to up my swash mix % for aileron and elevator though as it was very slow to go over!

I did take my flycamone and made a hatcam (cheers Darin ) but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to like the cold and died after just 8 seconds

After all my fun and games flipping her I did some nice circuits, stall turns and loops and then smashed her into the ground doing a stall turn with piro exit

Still, really good session so don't care that she needs some work now

It helped that I went up with the CopterX and the EXI. After I crashed the CopterX I then flew a couple batteries through the EXI just doing circuits, it's nice to have 2 450's that I can fly as I can be more daring with one

Was gutted to find the flycamone hadn't recorded! It works fine in the house, then go outside in the cold and the battery fails

Good stuff Gerd, I'm proud of you too. Yeah my Flycam does the same in the cold. On a slightly warmer day I was only getting 20 seconds. Just goes to show how sensitive lipos are to the cold, especially small ones with little to no thermal inertia, and it has a tiny lipo inside. Did you see the post where I explained that I had made a lead to power it from the ESC. I know that doesn't work for the hatcam idea, but I guess you could use a receiver battery pack, if you have one. I had to make up the lead for the plinth myself, but it was pretty easy to suss out. Found the pin details on their website.

Well done Gerd! You beat me to it Although, that's not hard now that I have no field anymore lol.

Shame about the camera. Would have been good to see. Doesn't matter though Try and get a vid next time

Congratz!

Sutty, good idea! I have a spare rx pack here anyway so shouldn't be too difficult to attach that to the back of my cap and have a lead run round to the camera at the front, another little project to start

Jonny, if you are planning doing flips soon then take it up high to start, I was surprised at how slow it was to go over (think my swash mix needs changing) and the first flip I lost a lot of altitude because it was so much slower than the sim.

Glad to hear you got you flips in. Sucks that you crashed. When I crashed it didn't really bother me at first cause I got the flips in. But for me, only having one heli, the joy quickly wore off when I realized what I had done. Congrats, just don't crash the EXI before you get the copterx fixed.

Hmm, thanks for the advice.. Maybe I will set my cyclic to 8 before I try one. At the moment it is 6, elev and aile.

Thanks, it was you doing them which inspired me to just do it!

Won't be flying tomorrow and all parts for the CX should be here Friday along with my Spartan DS760 Sport gyro (with free upgrade to standard DS760 ) Gonna take it out to Q8 with me and fix it there to give me something to do apart from the gyro as that is for the EXI anyway.

Way to go.. Happy to hear that you pulled it off and really makes me excited to learn to fly. Now if I could just get a few heli's so when I crash I can keep going..lol

hey cretus, your signature sounds like you could use some new g10 DTS frames?

I could use alot, the belts finished, but I think I'm going to go with the aluminum EXI. That way if I bend it up I can hammer it back out.
