In the case of a header (Hatori), I've torqued the header bolts, then heated with heat gun, and torqued again to "seat" the bolts. Good results with that approach. Consider however, we're talking about applying torque NOT gorilla power.
Paper gasket, optional, yet does ensure a good seal. Wet with a little fuel and apply as part of the header install above. Good Luck.

Finless,

Could you do a video on tuning a 2 needle engine? I am only familiar with this type of engine and it would help out a great deal in understanding the process.

If you're doing a full-throttle climb out, enough to get entirely on the HS needle, and the engine doesn't recover quickly and no smoke, when you go to mid-stick, then you're mid needle is too lean...if you're at least 1 3/4+ out on your mid needle, then you're too lean on the high.

Tim and Bob:

Sorry if I missed it - I just skimmed this entire post again, and I didn't see it in the videos. Just to clarify, I assume you apply the hight temp Epoxy WITHOUT a gasket of any kind ? Correct ?

Did you said it's okay using blue loctite as a gasket?

Yep, sounds unlikely but used at least half dozen times and works well!

Question OS 105 Heli Engine Question

Hopefully, this is an appropriate place to ask.

Anyway, my question is whether or not the new OS 105 Heli engines have the crankcase pressure takeoff nipple in the middle of the back cover like the 91 HZ's?

Thanks, and apologies if this is the wrong place for this question.

Cheers

Default needle settings

Just out of interest, does anyone know what Tim arrived at with his needle settings? I know fuel and weather play a part but having been pretty finely tuned they may be a good guide (only) as what not to exceed with the 120 as far as being lean goes.

thanks

my idle mix screw is centered mid needle is 2 turns and my high is 13/4 im using rotor rage 30% and os#8 plug it hovers and idles ok but it bogs a little in a full climb ( i use +-11 degrees pitch) when i come off full climb and bring throttle off the high needle to mid needle the smoke diappears for couple seconds i cant figure out why

i know that tim jones recommended pc fahrenheit epoxy to seal up exhaust port. but man this stuff is hard to put on. also should i let it harden up a little before putting the exhaust pip back on and tighting down the bolts all the way?

Thanks for the vids!!! I love it. I hv a query though. I have an align 91hz, how do I restore the needles to factory defaults? Do I turn all needles CW until it doesnt turn anymore and start with 2.5 turns for high and 1.5 for low? I am seriously lost.

I found this but when I got to P31 it told me Adobe was out of memory and I am betting the manufacturer defaults are just past there.
