can't help it. I always like to see what the possibilities are.even with out larger blades the tail will be less stressed with a loger boom, it will give the tail blades more leverage, plus the wider belt won't hurt anything either.

Default Radikal G20

I have been following this thread with interest for a while and have placed an order with Bobby.

I am looking forward to building this bird, it is my first non battery powered.

I would be very interested to hear what electronics people are putting on theirs. Apart from the Align Bobby is using, what else have worked well?

I have a Inertia 860 and thinking of a Futaba 9257 for the tail.

Cheers

You'll need a full-size servo for the tail, a 9257 won't cut it!

I'm sure James will chime in, but I think he's using the Hyperion DS20 servos on cyclic and likes them plenty.

As Chris said, you won't be able to use that 9257, you need a full size like the 9254. For the cyclic, I am using the Hyperion DS20-FMD's and I love them. Been running them well over a year now without a single issue. Don't forget about the throttle as well. You do not need anything spectacular on the throttle. I am running a JR servo I got off of Chris when I was in Austin. I am thinking of switching it out to an HS81 to save a bit of weight though.

I think you will enjoy this heli. Just take your time with it, especially breaking the engine in. It will pay off big time in the end. The build is nice and easy. Everything fits together like a glove.

OK, based on advise from this forum, I have the Hitec HS-81 for the throttle and a set of Ino-Lab HG D-761MG servo for the cyclic. I am having difficulty getting a 9254 so I am looking for an alternative, possibly the Align 620 or 650.

When I ordered my machine (currently somewhere between the USA and Australia) I did not have the $ for the pipe. To avoid if I can unnecessary postage costs, would it be OK to use a Hatori SB-12r muffler or should I just save more for the Century version?

If I remember correctly, the sb12 is designed for the zen 23 and 26. I would go ahead and try it and keep an eye on engine temps. If it is much bigger than the century, you may have to put some back pressure on pipe to get the power.

@Bobby...

My Radikal Arrived today! Yea... looks good - one mighty jigsaw puzzle..

Serial number 380 - I feel Proud !!!

I noticed the full CNC Rotorhub ($32.95) on your website... do you think this is an essential upgrade or should I just start with the normal one and go with the bling a bit later ?

Can you also post here at helifreak when 6.4 gears come in, Mine will probably be a slow build so you may have them in stock in time for me to put it straight in my build...

The included fuel tank looks smaller than I imagined - is there a larger one at all as i'll be looking for sport and stamina flying rather than hard 3D ?

Also - are there any mods you recommend up front so far?

Sorry for all the questions - just excited...

I'm not sure if I read it right - but my instruction booklet came with a few washers and screws and adendums stapled to it... one of those pieces of paper was a "thank you for purchasing" note and had the inspectors name and signature and had a number above (but not on) the serial number area on the paper - mine was 00380

woops - first issue with the kit...

I havn't started assembling yet but this issue was brought to my attention by another new Radikal owner.

The Ball links that go on the CF tail servo rod have not been made properly - the inner circle of the ball link is "FLAT" not "CONCAVE" so the ball links won't sit on the ball joints... Doh!

The other person who had this issue emailed Century about it as these ball jounts don't appear to be available as spares yet and are unique as they have a screw go through them to hold them onto the cf rod.

Century's reply was - "Use a ball link sizer to fix them"..... hmmm poor reply if you ask me!!!

What if you don't have a resizer to fit! which I don't....

@Bobby - both myself and this other person got the kit via you.. any chance you can talk to them and see what they can do... it's obviously a big pain in the butt for us to sort an alternative out but would cost Century virtually nothing to send out replacements as they must weigh like 1g ...

Geez - I don't even mind paying a few dollars postage to get replacements VS the hastle to find alternative links due to the specialized nature of them..

PS: you may want to check existing stock for the same issue as well.
