Default 3G tail rotor issue

Ok, So I have a 550 that I've hovered around and patterned a few times. I'm really still trying to get it dialed in but I'm having an issue. In normal flight mode, tail gain set @ 60%, the heli is fine. The tail holds well and I can hover pattern with no issue, however, when I flip to idle up with the same gain setting, the tail starts gyrating back and forth like the gain is too high. I've dropped the gain back to 55%, up to 65% velcro strapped the sensor, both lose and tight, and tried it unstrapped. I'm kind of frustrated at this point because my 600 flew so well before the ESC went up in mid flight and it crashed and burned, but that's another story. I have an idea of what might be causing it, but I'd like to hear others thoughts. Thanks for any advice.

Lower lock gain to help with the wag. As low at 40 - 45.Lower rudder total gain adjust in the gui so you can get the gyro gain up in the TX to a normal range. Set the TX gain about 70 and then lower the rudder gain in the gui till the actual gain in the gui is in the low 20's.

So you left the factory 3G settings but are running low tx gyro settings? How's that working out?

Hey.

What ESC are you running? If you're running govenor mode and the govenor gain is too high this can cause tail kicks as the rotor speed is changed to quickly.

Rudder lock gain can be a cause if its too high, do you know where it is set to? Also, what length is your tail servo horn?
Another question, what 3G settings ate you currently using and tail servo/gyro settings?

GUI = Graphical User Interface I think, in this case the Align pc link software used to alter lock gain.
.

Finally got to test the heli today. I lowered the settings in the gui and pushed gain up in the tx and everything is great! Back ready to fly after being discouraged for a while. Thanks for the help guys!
