Nice job so far Mercuriell. One thing that should be noted on the tail is that there are special screws that hold the tail grip assembly to the hub, they are not standard screws. I'm not sure if the new kits have these included or if you still have to send away to MA to get them. There have been several cases of the tail assembly failing when running our crazy high HS.

P.S. I love the rodent friendly build series

Thanks HFG - I am aware of the bolt issue - my local distributor wasn't sure if the new bolts were included - the new ball links were - I will send an email to MA to see if there is any way to check.

Norah has been busy during the build with QA and seems reasonably happy so far - she sends her best wishes to all her fans

You might always want to consider replacing those wimpy servo horns, other users have found that they flex alot in flight (i'm a diehard 65MG user).

HI Mercuriell

Norah is cool-how long has she been around?

The build looks good and I especially like the way the tail servo is done

Might be good to get another 450 size and the Furion looks pretty good as do the Beam and Rave for that matter.

Take care and have fun

Agreed - but I think for doing a build video that it's best to build and test stock items first before adding the bling - that's why it's good to the 'Freaks to chip in their 2 cents worth

Norah's been around since my Logo 500 build - she loves the Logos best - have to say a nice fat brown Rattus Vulgaris is the BEST pet !!!

Working up the rotor head we have:

Washout and Mixer Arms - 17MB wmv

Grips and Head Assembly - 18MB wmv

No great dramas here - getting good at green Loctiting though

PS Check your head brass spacers (130-112) width - see photo - if they are 2.15mm thick sand them down on some wet and dry paper on a flat surface to get them to 2mm - otherwise they preload the radial bearings and cause notchiness - Thanks to HFG for the heads up

You should be able to crank down on the spindle bolts and the grips will be suppppppper loose. If you cannot do this then you have one of the early kits where the brash spacer wasnt the proper size. You can buy a new one or do what i did and sanded it down to the required 4mm (4mm is from memory, not sure what it is exactly). Took me about 20secs to hand sand the spacer down.

Following up on HFGs advice I broke down the main grips (you have to take off the CF balde holders to get the bearings out) and measured the brass spacer between the outer radial bearing and the inner thrust race - 2.15mm - I sanded both sides down to 2mm and Voila - problem solved - able to torque up the head axle screws without notching or binding - thanks HFG !

Later kits apparently have addressed this problem so either measure them up or have a trial assembly

Thanks HFG/John. I also had to do this same thing with mine.

Also... for what ever reason the 2 brass axel washers were different thicknesses so had to order new ones (part number 130-113).

Up goes flybar assembly and head installation and that's all the mechanics done !!

Just have to video the electrics install in the completed heli and maybe some footage of the flight test - actually maidened her today - final setup took all of 10 mins and didn'nt need to adjust for tracking - got 12° +/- collective with 60% swash AFR on pitch and set up throttle curves 85-70-85 on idle1 and 100-85-100 on idle2 using an ALign 60A ESC. This heli flies likes it's on rails and my Stratus flying mate Ben and myself both agree it has a feel of the bigger MinAir helis - only needed a click or two of trim and is the nicest 450 by far I have seen or flown. This heli is definitely a keeper

I'll do a video overview of the electrics install - not sure whether to do a setup vid as I guess most builders will be experienced and the MinAir booklet is very comprehensive on this. I'll post a flight vid though

MA Furion - flybar assembly and head installation - 45MB wmv

I'm considering this to replace my 450SE. So far none of the other 450's have enticed me enough to make it worthwhile. Looking forward to the feedback.
