Default Rewound of Scorpion 4020-Jive problem?

Did a rwind for a friend of the Scorpion 4020-1350KV motor as the original proved difficult to get to arm a Jive 100LV on a Goblin 500. Did it 3+3 YY and the KV came to 1400rpm. It works and arms perfectly on a Jive 100LV with firmware V9, BUT V13 it still has the same struggle to get the ESC to arm. It arms and runs perfectly on Castle, YGE and Scorpion controllers.

So now what to do with this motor and why only V13 of the firmware. The error is always 3 blinks, meaning motor inductance to small (low).

Sounds like you should loose the Jive man and keep the Scorpion.

I have the exact same issue with 4025 Kv 1100.

with less number of turns your basically running into inductance to high on the motor.
you'll notice you might be getting 3 LED flashs.

essentially the esc is having trouble talking to the motor.
I believe v13 has a built in new failsafe to prevent momentary peaks as result you'll
have esc arming issue's.

try re-routing the esc wires or move them by hand you'll find it will arm.
in fact if you take the esc completely off the machine lay it flat and connect to motor.
it will arm everytime.

tried using a ferrite ring around one esc wire to motor and seems to work

yes totally annoying ! hence why the older version do not have this failsafe

Tried all those "fixes" still erratic and just a note, Kontronik advises that a ferrite ring on one motor wire is a complete no-no, will affect back EMF and cofuse timing.

PS owner change to another make of motor as the Scorpions and Jive V13 just don't mix.

maybe braiding the ESC wires might help.

wow that all sound very expensive

hmm paying that kinda coin for ESC it should be trouble free and not limited to
make and design of motor.

better yet they should advise the customer before hand that certain condition this
esc will not work properly. God forbid you use a scorpion motor.

My theory is that the circuitry in the Jives isn't sensitive enough to accurately detect the tiny back EMF of these motors and Kontronik errored on the safe end of the spectrum to prevent their ESC from self immolating when it has a fatal commutation error.

I would like to think that they fixed this issue in the JivePro and Kosmik but I doubt Kontronik will ever admit to doing so.
