For HeliJive, a few questions on Mode 1.
Hello all
I've read the instructions and watched Mr Mel's video on doing the process to complete Mode 1 but I had some questions on a few things with that. First, just to see if I have this right? Mode 1 actually performs two functions, one...once completed, it completely resets any and all custom settings to the defaults? And two, it sets per that Tx and its throttle range is from its default ATV's, what the full range of what that is as far as the ESC is concerned? So if this is so, lets say I have done Mode 1 and set that range, and then switched over to some other Mode, but then find that at some point down the road, I'm having issues with the Gov running the HS at some really off value to what it should be per my, gearing & Tx throttle percent set point should be giving me. If that is the case and I suspect something might be off from that Mode 1/Tx throttle range value, is the only way to fix that as far as the ESC goes, is to redo the Mr Mel's shown steps of Mode 1? And if I do that, will that as well then reset all the parameters in the ESC to default again? Also I noticed that upon completing the step of Mode 1 in Mr Mel's video, that he did not set the ATV's of his throttle until after he closed out of Mode 1, and then chose some other mode and as well closed out of that and replugged in the ESC without the jumper. So is this critical that you only do this only after you have completed Mode 1 by unplugging the pack? In other words, I don't want to adjust that say just after I get the confirm of the zero throttle while still performing mode 1? As well I have another question on the ATV thing, but I think I will ask it in a separate post. So if anyone has some insight they can give me on my questions it would be much appreciated. Thanks for any help. |

...also because of MANUAL page 15 (multi-lingual version): Quote:
Normally (w/ non-Heli-JIVE) "APM" not only resets everything to a relatively "dumb" actuator mode (no governor) than also is learning the throttle range from transmitter->receiver again with each startup. Tom

Hmm, well hopefully someone might know.
I apologize that I really don't know much about the reg Jive unit but as you said, there seems to be some sort of change with it in Mode1. Basically in the manual it says this: 7.1 Auto-Programming-Mode APM (Mode 1) In APM the ESC equalizes itself after every battery connection to the actual throttle control. For HELI JIVE ESCs mode 1 allows only reset. ! Programming APM deletes all previous settings (Reset). So what those settings are that is resets, I don't know and I guess I could play with that and find out but hopefully someone may chime in with something. I wonder too as I have the ProgDisk coming if that may even be helpful with that as I think this give me access to parameters in the mode's....so I could really see then right? Thanks for the info that you did reply with thought Tom. |

I think and hope I understand what you mean Tom.
I think one of the confusing things is how at least for the HeliJive, the have what they call a Mode 1, but instead of just like you say, the modes are presets, the one that they call Mode 1 is listed as being a reset. Anyway, I apologize for my confusions. At least there is not "burst into flame mode" huh, so what ever happens, one way or another I'll get it right. But I appreciate the help Tom, as I have written, this is all new to me so I'm just starting out and with each thing I learn, the less of a pain I will be. |
