Default 500L best placement for esc?

I dont like how close the esc is to the motor (in case of a crash) and the signal wire almost wont reach. I was thinking of putting it in the belly of the heli or on the side of the frame. ive looked at a lot of pictures and cant really find what everyone likes? Whats everyones opinion?

Look in the 500L fail thread in the main 500 section. There's been a discussion on that very topic, with pictures.
