Default One way bearing shifting downwards in main gear case

Last couple if flights I got a hight pitch scream coming from my 600n. I pulled apart the entire heli and found that the main bearing cover from the main bearing case had been wearing against the main gear case, completely worn away the align logo. I will try to upload a photo.

The one way bearing has sunk down into main gear case which resulted in the contact. Replacing the main gear case where the one way bearing sits higher means now that the autorotation gear rubs against the main gear...

So I have removed the main bearing cover, and used the main gear case with the sunken one way bearing. The cover seems to only holds the bearing in place and has no loading task... Not sure if this is best but seems to work well.

Has anyone else had similar issues?

I'll put up some photo when the server lets me...

I assume this is this the old style main gear case. But, I am not sure what the "main bearing cover" is.

The new V2 main gear case has a radial bearing on the top and the inner sleeve rides on the top radial bearing.

The new main gear case requires a matching autorotation drive gear; otherwise, the autorotation gear will rub against the bottom of the main gear.

Regardless.
It sounds like your OWB has become a loose fit in the main gear case. That would account for it slipping down in the main gear case and the squealing.
If you catch it early enough, you might have a chance to fix it, but I think it has gone too far.

The best way to fix this is with a new main gear case.
I think that once the OWB is spinning in the main gear case, there is no way to "fix it".
I imagine you will be people suggesting things like "green Locktite" and other magic "solutions". But, the spinning OWB has effectively reamed out the main gear case and nothing will replace the missing material.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I have the old style main gear case and main gear, I also have a newer autorotation gear. So that would explain everything based on what you said.

Here are pics showing the damage and the sunken OWB.

Sounds like I need a new main gear and case, maybe I'll just the KDE versions in preparation for a gasser conversion... :-)

My 600N has slowly gone through the upgrading process until almost everything has been replaced by the newest parts. I believe it is effectively a 600N DFC at this point.
I have 3 old (that weird teal color like yours) main gear housings, a 1/2 dozen old gray main gears and at least 5 old autorotation drive gears.
I cannot find that ring with the 4 screws.
Where does that come from?

I believe the KDE Direct 600 main gear case is meant for the 600E.
http://www.kdedirect.com/TREX550600UMGC.html
It basically uses the 700E slant main gear on the 600E.

Their OWB is outstanding and I use them on all my machines (700N, 600N and 600E). But, I use the Align main gear case on my 600N with the KDE Direct OWB (AT550/600-OWB).

I guess I don't know if the gasser conversion uses the KDE Direct main gear case for the 600E or the Align main gear case and the KDE OWB.
