Default How good is the YouTube stabilizer ?

Hey guys what do u use for stabilizing your media
I had a shaky media from my last job with the 5d mark II and a 20 mm lens so I tried the you tube stabilizer just for the sake of trying and the results were more than enough for me
So what do you guys use for stabilizing your media
Here is a link to the video before editing it
Ps: original media was .mov 1080p then I converted it to avi h264 720p then I uploaded it to YouTube
Watch in 720p

I decided to try out the youtube stabilizer software. I had a piece I had done last Summer just to test vibration on my rig. The original was bad, unwatchable in my book. Movement and high frequency vibration. There is x,y,z motion that is my problem. The high frequency vibration is what youtube took care of. None can be found.
I ran the software which took about 20 min. I then downloaded the results to my hard drive. The results were jaw dropping. I had run the Sony Vegas and Photoshop stabilizers. Both had so-so results. Perhaps Final cut is as good as the youtube, I don't know.
That being said....this is one great post tool online and free.
Some doubts I have are this.

How much resolution, aside from cropping do I loose?

At the very end of the vid you see a warping effect. This is where the copter is spooling DOWN with some very heavy low frequency vibrations. I see this effect where vibration is the worst.

I'd be interested to hear if this is as good as it gets for Final Cut

0:25 to 0:35 is interesting comparison

AP test shot for youtube deshaker (3 min 1 sec)

AP helicopter without youtube deshaker (3 min 1 sec)

So you can download the file back to your computer and re-cut it after having Youtube deshaker it? I didn't know that.

I tried using it on a cut video with captions and stuff, and I found it ruined it. The captions ended up being stretched and slewed very strangely.

No doubt it did a pretty good job on your footage. The only thing I don't like about it is that it seems to do a dynamic zoom and pan sometimes that looks weird. I wish you could tell it to do a fixed zoom on the image. Say, zoom in 25%, and just stick with it for the entire clip.

It's also very obvious when it tries to "fix" the lighting. You can see it, and it did the same on my footage, it's very obvious.

Well it works really well to some extent
But if you have crazy vibrations it won't work

That's why I posted it to get some objective views. I'm sure captions would get stretched.
Does final cut do this well?
I found Vegas and PhotoShop didn't do real well, so it seemed.

IMO, it is excellent as a free tool. But not for "professional" work.

I wonder if a "professional" level deshaker/ stabilizer is available in a cloud pay by the month or year type service?

VREVEAL I have used.
Google and try free download.
I have paid version and don't know what free limitation is.
Will use the CUDA cores of Nvidia cards for processing if available and desired.

CS6 AE Warp stabilizer does exactly that and will seriously out perform the youtube.

Every time I have used youtube to "fix" a video it has always turned into pure CRAP. The stablizer is bull **** and when it says that your movie needs some lighting corrections and you say "ok". It will make the video a pure mess.

True that on one touch corrections of any kind. More like one touch roll the dice.
What I seemed to notice and I need some feedback for this is.....

One is the warping or morphing effect where vibrations used to be
Two is the resolution seemed to drop from 720 to 480

I know expecting computers to do what the copter operators' responsibility's are is naive. ie, flying without vibration.

After installing htis mount I never have worried about "Fixing" the videos after filming. It has stopped the vibs and jello also. Best investment in a while.

Do you have a gimbal, and then that mount, or is it rigidly mounted other than the mount?

I agree in principle, that a large amount of vibe/jello we see is caused by the mount/gimbal design. It doesn't have to be this way.

About $37 with shipping from TelAviv, Israel. I bought one. I've tried just about everything as far as mount accesories go and nothing but tuning has eliminated vibes.

Let us know how this goes. I'm surprised I haven't seen more "do these work" posts from people who try off-the-shelf anti-vibration mounts.

Ok guys
I managed to reduce the vibration allot
Here is what I did
Changed all the drive terrain bearings to boka ceramics
Changed the tail shaft as it wasn't 100% straight
Changed the torque tube it wasn't straight
And stiffened the shock absorbers for the 2xpt
Changed the main gear to slant
Changed the stock head dampers from black to red ones
I still have a slight vibration that come and goes
But it's a work in progress I am getting close
