Ordered more parts than I needed for it!

Should be prepared for 2 nasty crashes, Murphy's Law says a spare part is never needed! So far Murphy has been wrong!

It definitely takes some of the sting out of crashing if you have the parts on hand.

I designed a carbon fiber boom block pressure clamp, to act as a backup boom lock for when/if the cheap e-flight screws come loose.. The whole custom fabrication piece weighs less then a few grams and uses an adjustable buggy turnbuckle to adjust clamp tension, pictures to come soon. ..

Ok, finally figured out how to post these pics.
Hope they help. It`s a little work to get it in there. I cut the ears off the esc and then took the screws out of the lower section of the frame, then just used the screws to pull it back together. Just be carefull not to cross thread the screws and help pinch the frame together while your putting them back.
Good luck.

Unhappy Lost it in a corn field

Was doing some late night flying (too late, sun was already below the horizon). Got disorientated. Thought I had it coming back but it never did. It got to be a black dot in the air so I hit TH. Couldn't search for very long because it was getting dark and won't be able to restart the search until Thursday.

Took out my Blade 450, mcpx, p-47, extra 300 and went through about 20 packs total.
Started with the 450, then in between packs i would take one of the planes up to let the heli cool.
it is mid 90's today so everything was running kind of hot, and on the 8th pack in the 450 i had a 92amp spike that put my ice 50 into protection mode (80+amp).
So i got to do my first REAL auto today
I do baby autos all the time when landing, but thats just bleeding of rpms.
Motor shut down about 40-50 feet up, came down nice. Had just a small bounce when first touched down, about a half inch up , then settled down nice.
Went from to in a matter of a couple of seconds.
Felt good to get the first one out of the way successfully

How did you manage to have a current spike of 92 amps?

dont know, thats what the log said. other than that fraction of a second, i didnt go over mid to upper 40's
Was practicing tic tocs when it happend, so wasnt even full pitch
Iam kind of pushing my 2221-8 though, have it governed at 3000 rpm with a 13t pinion, think gonna put the 12 t in

What are you getting for flight times with the 2221-8?

well that was the first time with that exact setup, had timer set for 5:30 mins.
Doing light 3D ,flips, rolls, loops, tic toc practice and FFF
Just got done charging the first batch of 4 batteries and they were 1721mah-1784mah put back in
so thats 78%-81%

Graph fluctuated some so think it was having a hard time maintaining 3000 with the 13t
just swapped out the pinion to the 12t, and Governor set to 2850rpm
Had it at 2800 before and was a steady line on the rpms and was getting about the same, around the 5:30 min mark

Thanks, I am planning on getting the 2221-8 to replace the stock motor when it dies. I currently have my timer set to 5:20 minutes at 100% with the stock motor and enjoy the longer flight times while still having decent power. It sounds like you are getting that with your setup.

Sounds like another great day tomorrow, so hoping to fly a bunch of packs again with the new settings.
Will let you know how it goes.

just got back from trying out need settings
Changed the 2221-8 to a 12t pinion with the governor on my ice lite 50 set to 2850rpm
left timer at 5:30, i only kept track of the first 2 packs. i put 1569mah 71% back into the first and1589mah 72% back into the second.
so looks like i could extend the time a little more if i wanted to.
Current was 17.8 amps avg with a max spike of 55.6 amps

Thanks for the info. That is nice to hear. I want to get a Scorpion motor for their better build quality and the fact that you can rebuild it but don't want short flight times.
What type of flying were you doing?

Thanks
