Default got off my butt and installed scorpion 2520-1360

finished install just a few miutes ago. Now to redo my caste set rpm governor settings. Looks like it will be 2900, 3050 and 3200 with 15 tooth pinion. The msh 1300 was
2750, 2900, and 3050.for my 3 flight modes.
This keeps everything at 85%, 90% and 95% for governor headroom. Guess I will loose a little flight time but gain some wicked performance LOL!

Default Stay inverted..

You should flip your belt the other way at this point.

Looks cool. Let us know how much power you have.

Default Yeah..

Yes, that is what I was getting at. Somebody had an upside down canopy and I think I saw an upside down tail boom. We could get all that stuff together and make the ultimate inverter.

Anyhow, it does look beefy in there.

screw that LOL. I changed the motor. I am not pulling the main shaft and main gear and the tail box just to flip the belt so the print is upside down LOL
Heck I did not even remove the motor mount to change the motor. Just unbolted the y bracket on top, slipped the belt of main and pinion and took out motor bolts from top side of heli. On assembly I did drop the little washer that goes between pinion and y bracket bearing and could not find it lol. I had extras so no problem except maybe it fell in the motor LOL. Motor runs perfect and if the washer is in there it is to small and thin to do harm. Could have fallen on my carpet also. I am not pulling the motor back out and taking it apart LOL!

I've got a question :). If an even bigger motor would become available, who here would mount that too? :)

Not me. This motor is perfect as no frame mods are needed. I wont go to the 3226-900 on my stretch protos due to frame dremeling and that motor has to much more weight than my hyperion 3026-1000 which weighs the same as stock. The 2520-1360 above for mini is a bit heavier than stock but not enough to worry about
If it is not strictly bolt in I will not bother.
Man I am telling you, this motor was made for the mini LOL. Proportion wise it looks better also LOL!

Default Belt..

My belt is upside down, never noticed it till I saw yours. That washer is a pain. Mine fell in the motor, I destroyed the top bearing getting it out and destroyed the motor replacing the bearing. But at least I learnt how to do it now. Might as well put full cramics in there with some lightning oil. I bet it will turn 50K easy. Its going to be a beast.

I am not sure that pain in the a^% washer fell in the motor and am not gonna worry about it. The motor runs just fine. I know better. I usually slide that washer on a 3mm hex driver shaft and hold it with my finger and let it drop onto the top of the pinion and motor shaft off the hex driver shaft. This time I got stupid and tried putting it on with my fat fingers thru the top of the heli. DUH!
I wont bother with motor bearings until they go bad. If and when LOL!

My mini which isn't stretched comes out a little tail heavy anyways. I have to shove a 3s 2200 right up against the inside of the canopy. So I can only imagine stretching it even more, that the little bit more weight of the motor could only help. 1800 6s can't be much more than a 2200 3s. So it should balance better, and the small increase in weight wouldn't be much for 25mm more blade.

Default CG

With 1800 6S and stock motor stretched the CG is way forward. Battery poitioning is limited due to the canopy stretching so you put it as far back as possible and it is still nose heavy. My solution was to cut an extra inch off the tail control rod. It almost balanced. I just put my RX on the bottom of the boom block and it is about spot on at this point. With this bigger motor, I think another 1/2" off the tail control rod would do it.

1800 6s batts are a lot heavier than 3s 2200. The ideal 6s setup still is 1300ah 6s 65c thunderpowers and balance a stretch no problem and they are about 15 or 20 grams heavier(about 210 to 220 grams with connector) than most 3s 2200's. A 1500 or 1600 the size of the 1300 tp's would be ideal if just a tad heavier. IMO 1800 are to heavy period and with the 2520 and limited battery placement of the 1800 you are asking for problems!

Good to know. Cutting the tail rod moved the servo back right?Where did you put the FBL? My sk540 is right on the tail block.

Default Yep..

Yeah, VBAR is on the tail block. Standard stuff. I used to have the Rx on the RX tray but when I got the BEC, I didn't like it so close. Plust options for antennas were not so great so I put it under the Vbar and it helps balance the bigger batteries. I am using Desire Power 1800's and Hyperion 1800s 45C... Well, I was till I went 4S temporarily) Hyperion 2600, even more heavy.

you just have to swap the shaft on the stock 2520 1360kv motor to the long shaft used on the stock mini P motor.

no mods required

So you used the MHS shaft puller tool thing to change the shaft? And the MHS shaft fits good?

How is the pinion and OWB holding up to the extra power?
