Hyperion EOS 0720i Super DUO3 USB port not working
I bought my Hyperion EOS 0720i Super DUO3 from PowerHobby.com in April this year and it's still working, but just recently the USB port stopped working.
I can still charge all my packs using the push-buttons and built-in display, but I have an old laptop dedicated to my charging station to track charging, graphs, and IR etc. , which of course no longer works. I contacted Powerobby.com a few weeks back but had no reply - does anyone know the a manufacturer contact details so that I can try them direct ?

Left a message on the EU site and lets see if they get back to me.
http://www.hyperion-world.com/blog/2...duo3-launched/ Great product when it's working, and the support on this defect will be the deciding factor if I buy one of their products again - so far it's not been good.

I figured you needed to go through the seller, I'm calling Grand RC first to see what can be done, if that fails then contact EmpireRC.

USB Hyperion
I have tried various PSU's with my hyperion and the USB port, it won't work unless I power it with a battery. I have heard that there are PSU's that will work with the USB port but Im not buying one just for that. The battery method works fine. I tried a USB isolator and it didn't help. Again, only worked with the battery. I also tried the Blue tooth mod but was not successfull with it even with the battery. It could see the device but when it connected, it didn't establish stable communication so I just went back to the USB. I only ever used it a couple of times to update the firmware. Perhaps your PSU has gotten slightly noisier over time. Kind of a pain because you can't charge and monitor on your laptop.

I've now asked if I could buy another new one and return ship the old one once the new one arrives and get a full refund.

I did the usual web search and saw the comments about compatibility issues with certain power supply arrangements, so tried a 6S and 12S pack and the USB still does not work. If it cannot work with my two HP supplies I will insist on a full refund.

I had to phone PowerHobby to get their attention.
It was agreed that I purchase a new one and on receipt of that, return the defective one for a full refund, just to ensure that I don't lose flying time waiting for a replacement.

When I originally setup my charger I believe that I used one PS and forgot about that I'll have to try a single and then if that doesn't work I'll try my car bat before contacting Grang RC again. Thanks guys. I should have have set it up for 5C right off the bat and then forgotten about it. Well its setup now at 3C max that's the most I need now anyway.

You should still be able to change the max charge rate using the push-buttons and built-in display.

I still cant get them to reply to my emails - I requested the return address for the defective charger, and just like all previous emails, no reply. I phoned yesterday again, and they promised to call me back within an hour - no call.

The Hyperion USB port is easily affected by noisy power supplies and that will prevent successful communication.
Also, depending on your power supply and PC arrangement it is possible to get a nasty ground loop current between the PC and charger via the USB cable and it can destroy the communications chip in the charger. That's one of the main reasons many people mod their Hyperion chargers for bluetooth capability. Whenever I had to update firmware or build presets on my Hyperion chargers I always powered the charger with a battery and used my laptop on battery.

I have the new charger and the USB port is of course working on it, but seeing as I don't know what caused the first chargers port to fail, I'm a little apprehensive about using the USB port while charging with the two 12V 47A HP power supplies.
Hyperion haven't responded to my question yet - http://www.hyperion-world.com/blog/2.../#comment-1023
