@DeviousLemur and @liftbag
you might try another type of wiring, which I ran succesfully with EA-048 and HeliMax Novus BL-conversion-kit (Heli-Max ESC - should be same as the Walkera ESC - plus 11000kv BL, sama as Walkera 11000 BL). Please do consider: my tests so far just contain the pure electrics plugged/soldered onto mCPX''s 3in1 - have not flown that configurationl, for the motor still needs to be implanted into the frame! Here is my wiring configuration:
Flying tests will be done over next week, if hopefully my 9th pinions (BP doesn't sell to Germany ) arrive. HTH Uli [EDIT] did a quick test w 12T pinion and attachted pic and video

Hey guys,
I've been out of the whole MCPX thing due to a recent 700E deal I got. The EA converter is a okay converter, but not the best. The initial thread was to point out that a brushless MCPX was possible if we put some thought into it. I took the step into creating a guide on what does what and where to help others with more knowledge expand on creating a flawless brushless setup for the MCPX. Since there are so many types of brushless motors to esc combos as well as converters, its impossible for my budget to carry on with the task of testing each and every one of them. I apologize if there were questions left unanswered, and would be awesome of Bob can get another member to create a brushless guide with a set of better suited electronics to modify the initial post.

The ultimate mCP X brushless motor
After trying all motors currently in use, Novus CP, C05M, ADH50 and C05XL, I think I can say that the best motor for the mCP X is the Oversky HP05S.
I have discussed here. |

ive spent most of my time on the 'other forum'. this one kinda kicks the crap out of it. at least as far as the mcpx is concerned, and most other topics from the looks of it.
thanks guys! |

Still looking for pinions
Im looking for a source of 9t pinions still. I saw mattbockman.com had them but he is now sold out. I'd rather not order from Europe. Great work on conversions everybody, I'm really
looking forward to trying this once I track down the pinion. |

I got mine here - http://www.radicalrc.com/search/GW/GM09T3.
3 of them shipped to Europe were still cheaper than one from Germany

I have mine connected up this way and it works , red is going to the resistor on the back of the board

@ so-fly: I cant make any sense of that diagram (single lipo), why do the motor wires from the esc go to the main board and converter? There is no motor in that diagram, where does it go?

Yes it is a bit confusing as there are no motor wires shown in the picture
If you wire it up as in the picture you will have 3 wires left, guess were they go, ,, Motor :-)

Actually just looking at so-fly diagram in the first picture its Wrong He has the ESC servo output wires feeding back to the + and - on the board.
The ESC gets its power from the battery and puts out 3 to 5 volts through the servo wire, he is feeding this voltage back to the and main board ?? this will only work if the ESC can suply enough voltage to the run the main board and all motors and servos. its probably can but it would be better to run the main board off of the battery. Some one correct me if i am wrong :-/

Triple the head speed wow that's a lot, lets say standard is about 4000 so 4000*3 =12000 no way lol. :-)
I was using the same Brushed to Brush-less Signal Converter but now use the STEVEs, I Did not notice much of a difference between the two.

Hey gang,
OK its probably on here somewhere....but I am old and blind... but I have busted my tail boom into two...thrown it out in the garbage, went and bought new carbon rod. I am going to do the tail boom mod by adding 1 1/4" to the stock length.... heres my bone headed dilemma... I dont have a stock boom to measure to see what I am adding the inch and a quarter too... ...any one know what the stock tail boom length is??? Thanks... Tony |

Hi Tony,
I don't have the exact stock length either but I made my extended 150mm from end to end, worked perfect on brushed setup. Stock must have been 125 - 130 mm Good luck

Thanks very much Ben... I could have measured one at the hobby store, but they were all out of tail booms.
Cheers, Tony |

Stock is 125, I just found an old one in my tool box,
And now for some thing completely different, when is some one going to go nitro with the mcpx, some one has done it on the Trex 250. :-P [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QG739pD5pc[/ame] Anyway at lease lets see if some bright spark can get twin main motors in the mcpx , would be cool :-) .

@ so fly- how did you get off the stock novus pinion? If I understand, you took it off of the novus can and filed down its main shaft to a smaller diameter so you could fit the stock mcpx pinion on the novus motor shaft? how did you file it, and how hard did you press the mcpx pinion on? this step seeps critical to me and help would be much apreciated

I just finished my second brushless conversion, this time I stayed with the stock frame.
The first time around was nerve wracking, experimental process in which I made many mistakes, was lucky not to destroy a main board and took about two weeks to get it right. This time I had a fairly good idea what order to do things and everything fell into place with the whole process only taking about 2.5 hours to produce a flight tested bird. |

2 Pack Special ;p
Why would you isolate the 2 Battery packs? It seems like a parallel connection or 2s with a lower potential amperage output, to avoid burning up the esc and 3in one, would be more suitable given the setup. Also I have found that the SR tail motor pulls a lot more amps than dual stock or mcpx tail motors. Probably because the Sr tail motor never reaches a high enough RPM to be efficient. Perhaps running a smaller tail rotor with the SR tail motor would produce a lower amperage draw? Another thing I would like to point out is that I have had much better throttle curve, flight time, and overall response by tapping the signal from the resistor just under the fet on the back of the main board. I will post scope graph when I get home and shoe you the difference. Plus you are not running a resistor on one speed controller to get the voltage down just to pass it to another ESC. Just a few thoughts.
