Well if a 450KV motor is in the bracket, Dr Okon has wound another monster for Scorpion, "Paws Edition" https://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=666581

That is a monster motor, but 14P ? How well would a Kosmik 200 push that ?

It looks like a motor that might need 320A YGE

Kosmik and JivePro are optimized for 14P motors as all the Piro 750 and above are 14P motors. Kosmik 200 will handle it no problem.

Agree, thread mentions that only the Kosmic 200 is currently optimum for these 14P motors. Getting interested myself in winding, another interesting aspect of the hobby, anyone got a dead Pyro 750? probably a bit soon yet lol.

That 14P 4535 with 1.7 dia wire looks pretty beefy with 6600W continuous compared to the Pyro 850 Comp at 6000W continuous. $100 cheaper than the Pyro, and 3 oz heavier.

Still 20 vs 23 oz. for 10% more power handling might appeal to some.

6600W / 55V ( assuming sag under load ) = 120A continuous with a peak of double that for up to 2 seconds.

I wonder what the load for a motor like that would look like in a speed run.

What are the calculations for battery drain?

Could that motor really drain a pair of 14S 4400mah batteries in less than a minute.

At least he is honest, others have kept us in the dark about release dates! Can't wait, so maybe the Forza 700 will have to jump into my workshop!

Bummer the release date seems to get later. It will be worth it as no doubt it will break new ground and exceed all expectations! I truely hope this year we see some new models from manufacturers. Not much that tickled me last year

He can take his time as far as I'm concerned.

I completely satisfied with my heli fleet, batteries, transmitter, simulator, charging equipment and my Charging Tower / Battery Storage solution is coming along. That has been keeping me very busy lately.

Maybe this year I will just focus on my skills

I'm getting a TDR2 because it looks like a real revolution in design and I'm sure the build will be amazing, not because it covers any pent up need I have for a heli to do things my current fleet can not do.

Hopefully by the time it is ready I will have improved my speed flying skills. ( I think this is a mantra that I will repeat every year )

This is OT for this forum, but if any of you are interested in seeing my Charging Tower project, this is a video walk through.

Charging Tower Walk Through (14 min 58 sec)

Are you sure Jan was referring to TDR II and not to TDS?
Could you also let us know your ranking number?

Late 2015 for the TDR II seems a bit odd to me given the fact that he is steaming ahead with production of the TDR II whilst Olli is currently testing the TDR II (2 blade version I assume) as I read on the German forum

Thanks

TDR 2 and TDS will happen when they happen. Nothing we can do to change that. In the mean time I keep buying and building other cool machines. This won't keep me from Jan's new toys. Just feed my desire for cool things. Forza 700 is cool. I really like mine with the exception that the canopy is very tight around the nose. Other than that it's a good one. Have a Shape S8 on order too

You've got to do what appeals to you and seems like the most fun. I've gone well past the equivalent of a nicely built high end 700 in recently purchased tools. I'm putting my time into wood working for now and am having a blast with it. I don't see the point in building helicopters endlessly. I haven't seen anything that improves on what I've got.

There are a lot of good helis out there, but after a while they get very redundant. The TDR2 will be worth building but there really isn't anything else out there that would be an improvement over what I've already got and just building a bunch of helis seems boring at this point. I'd much rather learn how to make the ones I have really pop!

But everyone has different ideas of fun. For me if a heli doesn't fit a specific need I have or if it isn't something really special, I would just be going through the motions buying one and getting it set up.

I like a challenge. Right now improving my flying skills is a challenge and designing and building my charging box is a challenge.

Although I am on the W/L for TDR 2,it should be a very interesting machine to build and fly.
