Don't dare try it really.. well I will carefully when I get to IRCHA.. but the computer can't see the unit.. as others I just get the red LED... so unless the 4.01 somehow addresses that issue (or fixes corrupted the memory in the SK) it probably wont be able to connect it to actually send anything newer.

I just don't dare try much as I want to fly a lot the first 3 days at IRCHA before help arrives.

I'm not worried. Worst case Art mentioned he'll be there Thur and ready to help us all update.

4.01 popped right in for me. Laptop is now functioning with version 4.01 on vista. Thanks Art!

3 connect the bec, and then within one second, connect to USB

This will reset the unit and erase the setup. Try the update again, but with a bec connected. We think this is due to newer PC's cutting power to the unit at the last stage. \
ok I tried the jumper trick.. and it worked in one sense.. as suddendly the computer saw it right away and connected and SD memory window opened up, but every time I tried the firmware update... like it asks to do... it won't work.. and now its unflyable as I only get a rapidly flashing LED when I try to fly it.

Anything else to try? Otherwise I'll bring it by the skookum tent Thur. At least I still have my 700 to fly.

I tried another idea... to format the card after it shows up when I do the jumper trick.. and it almost formats... but after 30 seconds windows says it failed to format. So I can see the SD card just fine (SK540) and open it.. but cannot format it. Why? Crazy.

Right click on it SK drive in explore and select properties. On the tools tab select "check" in the Error checking window. Follow the prompts to repair the drive. Once its repaired, power cycle the gyro.

At this point you can upgrade to 4.00 using a Windows 7 machine. But if you re-try with a W8 machine, you'll be back in the same boat. Or you can just have Art take care it when you see him.

No errors found. SO frustrating! I cannot format.. and when I start up the update I even see the update show up briefly in the D: window.. but then D: is lost and the red LED stays on. Same old thing. This with BEC or not. I guess I'll have to wait for Art. Thanks Greg.

Will do. I could even get 3.43 to work again and it was working fine on the computer... even changed cyclic gain etc.. and was going to stop there (just to fly again) but still get the rapid blinking light upon initialization. Borked.
