Default 13 and 14-T Pinion

Okay, I've read as much as I can stand and I'm still confused about the motor shaft. On the stock motor, do you have to modify the motor shaft to accommodate the 13 or 14-T pinion?

On the MSH website, they have a CAD drawing showing you what is needed. But they do not mention it this is for the stock motor or something else. For the life of me I can't understand why you would need to do this.

Anyone have the definitive answer and an explanation?

My kit is a new Carbon kit...not to be opened till Christmas.

BTW: If your looking for a carbon kit, they have about 8 or 9 of them here:http://www.rchover.com/category-s/644.htm

The old MSH motors had a longer shaft that wouldn't work with the smaller pinions. So you had to cut it. The NEW MSH motors now come with a shortened shaft. If the kit was ordered recently it has the short shaft.

So does that mean the new kits don't need the motor adaptor MSH51098 (for 13/14T Pinion) and these pinions will fit on the adaptor that comes with the kit?

I also bought an early Xmas present, but i had a little peek in the box already.

I am pretty sure that you have to use the adapter for the 13/14 tooth pinions as they are a smaller diameter. You just don't have to shorten the shaft.

Correct, sort of. The 13/14T requires the short motor shaft.
The motor adapter for the 13/14T is different than the 15T. Both adapters will work on the short motor shaft.

Thanks for the help CatchmyCorsair. And thanks to you all for asking the better questions. I don't do hard 3D so I wanted to try for longer flight times.

Thanks OSOFAM for the part number. That helped me to verify the info. BTW: I have handled the box but the little seal is still intact. She's still pure.

If it helps i wanted to use the 13t pinion on my "early motor" with long shaft.
I did not want to shorten the shaft so i got the short shaft replacement. It was easy to do.remove fan,4 screws.Remove two set screws that hold shaft then use a metal rod to knock the shaft out,no real force needed. The new shaft comes with a eclip for the shaft NOT like the original.put eclip on then slide back in armature and case.make sure shaft is back against washer an can then tignten grubs.
