Here was my heli, with a 13 tooth pinion, in gov mode, 85 flat curve, pre-mod, pre-update, on a windy day:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DSsJsHlm-w&feature=youtube_gdata_player[/ame] shortly after this I changed to a 14 tooth pinion, and ended up doing a 250' drop with a dumb thumb at the end, causing a 100mph dirt dive! Just rebuilt her, did the mod, did the update, changed the tail to a ds650... And now I'm having wag issues. In my vid, the tail wiggled a little, the COG was off towards the nose, but overall, I was happy with her. Now, it's like I just brought a new puppy home with me... Loving how everything feels, except the tail... Constant wag. I'll try to get vids up of the pre/post 3G mod test hovers soon. |

You should find a pleasing difference with FBL blades. I believe that the FBL blades are also designed to take some of the strain off the servos. Imho they are a must but many are flynig with std blades succesfuly.

I use Curtis youngblod Radix FBL blades. I think most of the main manufactures make them. Check with your LHS.

Will this mod work with the Trex 550e? I just maidened my Trex 550E yesterday. The tail does not hold that good. I using futaba 520 tape, metal, tape. We tried adjusting the gyro up and down but with no luck. No binding also.
Just wondering if I can do the MOD on the Gyro sensor without changing the values since I don't have USB cable. |

The mod has nothing to do with any settings, or class of heli. Any 3G unit can benefit from the mod... And then once you get the USB cable you can further adjust your settings to you likings.
I'd make sure you fly and test your heli to make sure your unit is not defective at all... Cause the warranty won't cover it after you do the mod.... |

+1 Yah! - I had some scary moments with mine for that exact reason. Test it out thoroughly first.

I took my 700's out to the field today and wrung them out pretty well for the first time after doing the mod and I must say I am very pleased. One of my biggest issues was the bobbling which appears to have vanished. I am however still scratching my head over one of the 3G's I modded which was working fine before the mod and now it appears not to be working. I power it up and am getting the alternating green/red led. When in DIR mode the servos go to full negative and there is no response from the unit besides the flashing LED. When I power up normally the LED still flashes red/green but I have control of the elevator and aileron but no movement on the cyclic. Any ideas on this issue?

Poor connection somewhere? Is that particular 3G a v1 without the epoxy on the pins? I'd double check all the connections.

actually the one Im having the problem with is a V2 WITH the pins glued in from the factory....frustrating, Im about to give up on it and order another 3G or probably a mini vbar as a replacement. Hoping to get this one figured out first.
