Post "Shamu canopy" question

Anyone using the lightweight "shamu" canopy?

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_761_565/products_id/207321/n/MS-Heli-Pre-Painted-Polycarbonate-Protos-500-Canopy-Orange-Black

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_761_565/products_id/207322/n/MS-Heli-Semi-Painted-Polycarbonate-Protos-500-Canopy

I was wondering if it was translucent at all. Thinking about using one for a night flyer setup. If you have one, a flashlight and a spare minute can you let me know how much light comes through?

Gracias.

The shamu canopies have clear, white, gray, and black sections. The clear parts let all the light through. The white lets some light through. Gray less so. And Black not much at all.

So are parts of it actually clear? Sounds like it would be good for night flying.

Look here:

Where you see the orange is where the clear parts are. Keep in mind that only the semi-painted canopy has the clear sections.

I've only bought the painted (orange) ones. They are INCREDIBLY durable and very light.

The only reason I prefer the FG now is that I think it affects the heli sound... at least I've convinced myself that.

Love 'em both.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Looks like a great night flyer canopy.

I have a clear backlight canopy on the 400 and it really prevents it from turning into a jumble of lights in the sky.
