I'm running a single Spektrum sat directly into my Skookum SK-720 ... the SK itself is acting as the receiver.

I have an older jazz 40, and I"m using the bec with MKS92 A+ servos cyclic and 95i tail. No issues at least until I crashed it. I fly futaba and even use the 6203SBE which is a park flier rx ie stubby little antennae.

Hey John,
I have same setup except 8910 on tail and already had a crash due to weak BEC. VB log shows Rx voltage as low 3.5V. I can simulate on the bench as well. What FBL are you running, can you log Rx voltage?

The previous owner of this Jazz had shortened Rx lead on the ESC then re lengthened it with a new lead, maybe I should have a peek at his soldering job. If your setup is working no reasom mine sgouldn't unless the 8910 is cause.

The 8910 should be ok.

I'd wonder if either that rx lead isn't an issue, something in the ESC is iffy, or you may be binding somewhere causing amp spikes.

I run a Beast X unit for FBL.

Now maybe I've just gotten lucky so far. If I have any issues, I will be swapping to a YEP 45 amp esc. I do have an ICE 40 or w/e that size is for a 450, in my 450 pro. I'll probably be getting another warp at some point so eventually I'll try the ICE in a warp and be able to log via the ICE logging features.

It probably would work, but for the extra weight, I'd just as soon get an external BEC.

Thanks for sharing Esmo! Looks to weigh twice as much as the DC-UP, but may or may not work better in some way. I don't know enough on the topic to have an opinion.

My only comment on your thought Jeff, is any BEC can experience an overload scenario, or minute malfunction, and be suceptible to a brown out. A backup device can prevent the event from causing any consequences.

Several options!

This is true. This is why I run a straight 2S pack on my larger models.

if you guys want a good stand alone BEC read the DIY thread that fireup wrote a few years back. I bought parts from Digikey and either bought or got samples for the boards and made a few. Not hard, and I ran them on 550/600 size helis and they were ultra reliable. I personally don't trust mass produced BEC's unless they are super $$$$ and even then I've read of these failing. I did buy some el cheapo bec's from hobby king when I was newer to the hobby, but on getting them they looked like something I'd find stuck to the bottom of a broken condom dispenser in a crappy gas station. I wouldn't use them if you paid me.

Anyway, I think this is a case of making sure you have reasonable spec'd items, setup is proper w/out any binding, and you should be ok.

Are you guys sure you are not getting static hits? 2 belts, dry air, spektrum?????? Static????

My $27 dollar with program card Yep 45a with internal bec has worked great so far, haven't heard anyone complain about them yet and I've flown mine now for 3 months on my current 450 and about 15 flights on the Warp.I think the clone may have a better bec than the original?

Now that static/belts have been brought up, I haven't seen anyone mention grounding the boom at all in any threads or pics.

Got one on my Warp too but I do have a buffer pack as a safety net. I have not been able to get much info about its BEC other than rated at 5.5V/6A. Not sure if that is continuous amperage or peak.

Not sure where I read it , but it's supposed to do 7a for 5 seconds. But the proof is it's working great for me .Thought about a seperate bec but it's only running the same load as my other 450.

If anyone is looking for the YEP 45A from HobbyKing I have a buddy code for it and the program card (card for $3.97 and ESC for $18.49). Just PM me and I'll send it to you. Not sure if it is acceptable to just post them in a thread, but if it is I can do that too. I don't want to break any forum rules. I bought a couple and just realized they gave me the codes.
