Ideal head speed for YS56 on Fury 55?
Just finished rebuilding the Fury 55.
Running a YS56SR, Hatori SAB-55, GY701 Governor. What head speed are you guys finding runs the best for 3D? OS55 HZ likes turning at 2150, but I'm not sure about the YS56. Thanks! |

Hi,
I have a very similar combo, I run a Vbar and use the built in Gov and have found that 2230 is the best for my set up. It runs the entire take at 180-190DegF YS56 Hatori 566 pipe VBar with Gov Mavrrik G5 600FBL Blades Klots KL200 Oil 18%. Nitro 30% I give it hell and it loves it Have been running it like this for over 6 months the engine still looks like new inside. If you do the calcs on the recommended RPM you will see that it is right in it's power range. No More O.S for me... the 91-3DS has been faultless in the 700N also. Hope this helps, Chris.

Are you happy with the power you're getting out of the SAB-55? Have you tried the Funtech B320?
Still playing with mine, but so far the power isn't quite like my OS55HZ. |

When I put the Fury together last September I had a O.S 55 with the funtech B320.
I was never really impressed by how peaky the power seemed, It only lasted 4 months before it blew a rear bearing. So I bought a YS56 to try as I was having great luck with my 91. It ran very well on the Funtech pipe but again the power seemed band seemed a little small but still better than the O.S. I pancaked the B320 in a crash, so I bought the Hatori 566 to try. I think for my set up in this model the Hatori wins hands down for usable smooth power, It does like to rev though. If you have access to a B320 you should try it, It may suit you better. When tuning I always use a temp gun and spot the rear of the the crank case under the head for the above temps.
