Post Please Help, First CP Heli - No Lift Off !!

I have searched forums and others and watched every video available to no avail
New mcpx BL with new DX6, this is my first CP heli
I've followed the DX6i guide set up including getting neutral pitch at mid stick

Bird just sits on the ground & will not take off with blades spinning so fast it scares me a little..
I've tried to reverse pitch on transmitter - makes no difference
I've checked the main shaft no issues (brand new heli)
I've bound and re bound bird to transmitter
I've tried slow lift, fast lift, tilting one leg off the ground first before attempting lift
I've assessed physical blade pitch utilizing the TH switch and looks roughly 9° at max pitch
With throttle/pitch stick full forward I placed my hand above and below blades to assess wind force which is where it gets confusing... Up force on one side the heli and equal down force on opposing side and I note these wind forces are less than produced by my FP V911

It is as if the servos do not apply pitch when the throttle is active...

Wise master jedi pilots please offer me your guidance

Humm that sounds odd, I've been getting back into this hobby with the BL after leaving it in the box for the best part of a year, sometimes life just gets in the way. Anyway this morning I flew slowly too close to some bamboo and a gust of wind drove it in to an offending stem, Hit throttle hold and went and retrieved it. Put it down and checked the servo leads, I nearly always pop the top one in a crash, and if one is not connected it will also severely limit your lift! and usually lead to an interesting tipping over incident... but all was well. I spooled it up... no lift... picked it up checked the servos were working in throttle hold, they were. I can't do a pitch check as I've set my throttle hold to 0 pitch across the board. Then I noticed the bottom main gear was not pushed up, problem solved, Lift and I was off again.

So maybe check the main gear is snug.

Also unplug the motor cable and check the three servos are adjusting the pitch together with the collective stick in all flight modes.

Umm and they are the only two things I can think of.

Best of luck,
B

Make sure all 3 servos are moving and that theyr are connected to the swashplate. (Throttle hold and apllying pitch)
If you cant see anything wrong do this:

What you can is set a throttle curve like this:
0-10-10-10-10 (dont know if 10 is the low or to high. The blades should spin but without it being dangerous to hold heli in hands)
And pitch curve 0-25-50-75-100
And then try and hold heli in your hands while applying throttle. Try looking for anything abnormal.

This is a common post-crash issue with the MCPx BL. Make sure the main gear is firmly pressed on the shaft and up as far as it will go. The main gear also sets the mainshaft vertical travel, so if it is loose, the whole shaft slides up slightly under load, which has the effect of applying negative pitch.

Check the hollow main shaft for breakage.

Thanks everyone! Unfortunately I am still stuck on the ground
  • Main shaft is fine
  • Main gear is 'clicked' in place
  • All the linkages are connected
  • Sevos are all operational

To assist diagnosis I got some footage this morning and uploaded to 'one drive' hope you can view it easy enough.
Bind and pitch movement https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=video%2cmp4

Attempted take off https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resi...nt=video%2cmp4

Notice the bird launches off the floor at the speed of light when I hit the Throttle Switch?

I downloaded the mCPX BL file from spektrum and loaded it to the DX6 also

Please Help

Hi Jeff, in the video of the swash plate, it looks to me that the rear servo is not moving. Try pushing the plug in on the board. Maybe the servo has a problem, you can check this (just a test) by plugging it into another socket and then by using that servo movement to test. If you take the blades off you can check all movements at full throttle. (Pull off the rear motor rotor as well or unplug it).

+1

When you increase throttle/pitch all 3 servos should move up together. The only 2 things that have ever kept my BL from having enough pitch to take off are a main gear that has slipped down, or one servo that has stopped working.

It was the plug for the rear servo - I really should have found a schematic for the main board and checked that all before all this but thanks everyone!!

+2 on the rear servo

I've had a similar case and had to spin the servo gear at the bottom by hand to get it "unstuck". I would spin it so the servo would travel up. Not always the problem but worth a try.

I am new to the CP birds, but here is the dumb thing I did. While re-setting the prams on my 6i to a milder flight, I forgot that I set the new prams in "TH". So every time I went to check the settings in TH it would spool up and want to take off. Again I am new to the CP, but it is just a thought.
