Default Hitec 5245MG Crash & Burn

Hi freaks, Just a little info on the 5245's, Had a mild crash Sunday morning and rebuilt last night. Just main blades, main shaft, flybar, front landing gear, two tail rod guides, and the Elevator servo. The upgrade top servo case yes where the center pin seats in the case . Now i may be wrong but these sevro were suppose to be the new upgrade cases, they were order from HiTec to get upgraded cases. i'm just ordered a new case from Readyheli and will keep flying seeing this is the 3rd crash.

Bottom line looks like the cases aren't fixed yet...

They are fixed in a way... A little stronger now... but you can still break the case!
On this heli sometimes in a crash SOMETHING has to give... It's still the servo case on those servos.... BUT cheaper to fix than metal gears stripping

Just out of curiosity, are you using the aluminum servo arms or the plastic ones supplied by Align? I went with the plastic arms in the hopes that they would break before anything else.

I'm debating using the plastic 82 arms instead of the metal. Might be a better option when the bird lawn darts.

Bob you r right I just thougt they hold up better. problably don't help i when in under power trying to save it. Cases are only 7 bucks cheap fix.

I am running the alumiunm servo arms whats a heli without some blink. That and i don't think the plastic arm will help much seeing there pretty thick arms.

I would like to see a picture of a new case vs the old case. just so i know if i got the new or old version.

There should be a date code on the case of the servos you have, the new cases went into production in Feb or March 2008.

Regardless, Hitec has been pretty good about replacing servos due to this type of breakage within the warranty period. I would send it back.

I have damaged (and consequently rebuilt) five of these 5245's, and none of them have worked correctly afterwards. In all cases, I have replaced both the cases and the gears. From now on, I just replace the servo. It's not worth the time or headache for me.

SoftwareDrone, If a new case doesn't fix the servo I will be buying 3 new JR servos............ But i can't see why repalcing the case wouldn't fix the servo...

Ok got thwe new case and it is the new version (upgraded) case . The only way i see to know if you have new or old case is to open it up. Having the round sticker white and purple marked 08.03 guessing March 2008. doesn't mean you have new case. The new cases do look alot stronger.
