The 25mm boom still uses a small set of spacers (MIK4091) in the frame. You can't see them from the outside of the frame like the 20/22mm boom spacers but they are in there. It adds a stop for the front of the boom and fill a void in the frames. Seems like not having those in there would cause the bolts to pull through and destroy the frame with much less force.

yeah that is what happened to me when I dont use them, my left frame is broken at that place.
I use the Horizon Fin Mount like below to hold the main-frame. Problem solved. Will ship the new frame later.

the conversion to 25mm is $46 which isn't much considering. of course the 22mm booms fly just fine on both 550sx/500se. again the only reason i did it was the standard 690mm x 22mm SE boom was roughly 10-15mm short and i didnt want to pull out the boom on the frame side as i much rather have the boom seat all the way against the boom inserts on the frame. fwiw the length of the 550sx boom was just fine.

i cut down the 600 boom to 705mm. for a nice clean cut, i recommend using a pipe cutter ($10 at lowes/hd). the weight difference between the 500se 22m and 600 25mm after the cut was 10gr which is probably a wash since the 600 boom frame inserts are much lighter than the 500se/550sx inserts. anyhow parts list below if your interested in doing the conversion.

i recently swapped out the stock 500se 686xl belt with the tt raptor 50xl belt (#PV0520-1). nothing wrong with the stock belt but i did notice some abnormal wear marks and really prefer the material and extra width of the raptor belt. same translucent yellow belts that come on the logo 600s. anyhow found a pretty sweet deal over at rons heliproz for $13

MIK4098 Tail Boom LOGO 600-3D $19.99
MIK4634 Mikado Tail Rotor Clamps LOGO 600SX $7.99
MIK4091 Logo 600 Tail Boom Holder $5.99
MIK4139 Rudder Control Guide For 25mm Tailboom $5.99
MIK4096 Support For Horizontal Fin $5.99

So the Logo 550SX and the Logo 600SX users the same size CF tail case fins?

But a different tail case clamp, since it is 22mm

You forget the CF tail case - $45, spacer for belt tensioner bearing, spacer for tail shaft pulley, new collar at the end of tail case, and new tail shaft which longer than 500se one!

yes the new yellow/orange sx fin set (MIK4628 & MIK4648) are the same for for the 600sx and 500se/550sx. the actual clamp is different which is sized accordingly to either 22mm or 25mm. regardless of which clamp you use, the spacing is 27mm for the tail rotor assembly.

actually the parts i listed is everything you need to convert the 550sx and latest 500se from stock 22mm to 25mm boom. keep in mind this is for the latest sx tail box but regardless im pretty certain the old cf tail case is still spaced 27mm.

just to elaborate, nothing internal of the tail case assembly (tail rotor shaft, spacers, belt tensioner assembly, etc) change from a 22mm and 25mm boom. the important thing to note is the spacing is 27mm regardless if the boom is 22mm/25mm. the only part that differs is the actual tail case clamp.

i dont own the older 500 with 20mm so cant comment on the conversion. my parts listing for the conversion was specific for those wanting to go from 22 > 25mm booms. anyhow hopefully this clarifies things. of course feel free the check the manuals - 6003d/600sx/550sx/500se.

Wow, did not notice that. I just have the old 20mm tail fin set.
Thank you for the info!

Will the 500SE work with 550mm blades as a stock kit?
No other changes necessary?

I know it comes with 600mm blades standard.
I'm wondering if it works with 550mm blades with no further adjustments?

Holy thread revival batman!!

Yes 550 blades work but you might have to bump your head speed a bit, depending on your drive train you might have to swap your pinion for 1 tooth more.
