Default 550 DFC VS 550 L

Is the extra cost really worth it for the L over a dfc v3? Same motor.esc.blades.boom.tail. so its really just sliding battery tray and servos and their layout.

Wish I had waited.. Iv got the PRO DFC.. V3 I suppose is what it is... I like the new servos & the motor layout better.. But it's the same heli I would imagine... Very happy with the v3.. No complaints.

Well you get great flight times... @ 2000 I can fly my 5500 45C for over 7minutes with 3.7 per cell left.. On target. I've got the ikon running 2000, 2250, & 2450. Now the 2450 is pushing a governed headspeed, doesn't leave a lot of overhead... But that's about all ull get w a stock setup.. But 2450 is more than enough power. Does ok.. I like it.

DFC version gets my vote. I have 2 ready-to-fly plus enough spare parts to build a 3rd. I had my 550 with a battery tray well over a year ago.... its called the Trex 600. The 550 DFC is right on the edge for a good overall weight 550 class heli. Making it heavier, adding a tray setup for a single pack and complicating a simple design that worked well just doesn't make sense to me. Just my opinion, there are tons of 550l lovers out there that think the opposite. Buy what you like and enjoy it, they are both good helis.

Talking out with the old and in with the new

550 v3 is fine but if you want a 600 class bird just buy 1, dont modify it that's the issue in some cases. but it works for some. But for me I wanted a true 550 and the 550L is exactly that, the only problem to me is the esc. I will upgrade to a 120 soon.

Am I right in thinking the 550L has a shorter boom .. should they have called it the 550S (short)

Looks good tho , I like the frame layout much the same as the 700 , But not sure if it would be a worth while trade up ...

Just a quick question , wasn't there issues with fitting the larger motor in the Dfc pro frames ??

Have you weighed your 550L (without battery)?

Just trying to resolve if it really is much heavier than the old 550 Pro.. Personally i cant see where much more than 150g difference could come from. And most of that would be down to the upgraded servos, which you could always downgrade to lighter ones if you were that worried about weight.

Weights from servos.battery tray.... i dnt notice the weight that much bc its sooooo much more balanced. Weight just hangs under the mainshaft

Yes, which is why I said that I said 150g... But what's the actual weight of the heli?
