Is that a rewound KDE 700XF motor, 10 poles? PowerCroco is certainly a good pedigree.

Were there not issues in the Kosmik driving the KDE motor?
Watch those gears, that thing looks like it can chew through anything! Be smooth on the sticks.

No, that is the scorp can. I have both it and the KDE version on my current helis. I myself am ordering a Diabolo some time this week and liquidating my Goblin fleet down to size.

Yeah, good one, the KDE has 8 poles, my mistake.

You´re absolutly right... The Motor is insane . KV is 475.
The flight time depends on the used Bank (Pitch/RPM).
Currently i´ve to setup the telemetrie accordingly i can give you some Information about the Flighttime.
With all Electronics, LiPo etc. he have arround 5850 Gramm.

Can you please share with us the winding, ie the diameter (or equiv) and the number of turns?

As mentioned 4+4YY, the Thickness is about 1,8.

Thanks. Missed the winding bit. Very interested to hear how this works. Cheers.

I'm planning on trying a Hacker A50 Limited edition 530KV , has anyone tried this motor ? I know the KV is a bit high but it's a nice looking motor...

Just curious how the Hacker motor worked, or is working? That's what I'm planning to put in mine because I have one lying around.

I see most of the setups are aimed at really ballistic performance but what I'm going for is smooth, 'big air' and F3C type stuff.

It does seem that in general the larger diameter motors are preferred, probably due in part to the inertia as well as the potential watts. So, at some point I'll prob get a bigger motor but for now it's either the Hacker or a Scorpion 4035/450 cause that's what I've got.

I did try that motor , it's ok on 690's but not longer , I ended up getting a Quantum 4530-500 a bit more power .

That hacker motor is on my LOGO600sx which is really good match.
but try it out , I still find the Hacker motor super smooth and better balanced then any Scorpion I ever had...

Got electronics ordered for mine, kit is on order... gonna be a long 2-3 weeks.

Scorpion 4525-520
Jeti Mezon 130
Promodeler servos
SK720 Black
Rail 716/106

Not sure about batteries yet, going to see how it does with the 4000mah glaciers I have for my 500s. Depending how they balance I'll either run with those or pick up 4400/5000 45C packs.

Are those Promodeler servos the ones that are the same as the RJX / BKs ? I just got the RJX 0521HVs as I was only reading good things about them, so we'll see how it goes.

Nope. http://www.promodeler.com/node/75

I saw them mentioned on here somewhere, they look interesting so I figured I'd give them a try. I'm using the brushless versions (120oz tail, 245oz cyclic)

Haven't hooked them up to anything to test yet, but they feel really nice.

Default Opinions on servo power setup

I just got a Kosmik 160 and from what I have read it looks like the built-in BEC is man enough to handle 700 size helis doing hard 3D (according to threads about the Kosmik elsewhere).

I also just got an Optipower ultraguard.

This is on a Triabolo 700 with RJX FS 0521 HV servos on the swash and a Futaba 276HV on the tail.

My flying style is not at all hard 3D, it is smooth 'big air' type stuff.

Here's my question; Would it make sense to also have a capacitor wired in, like the Fromeco DCUP or similar? The idea is this; The cap handles any spikes that might draw the voltage down and the Opti guard is just there as a backup in case the BEC totally fails.

Or is it overkill to include a cap pack? The Kosmik BEC is rated at 7 amp continuous and 20 amp peaks.

I pull máximo spikes of 10amps from the Kosmik BEC on the diabolo 800 and Triabolo 800 @ 8v so you will be OK. Kontronik is very conservative with their ratings. The optipower ultraguard is the strawberry on top of the cake
