Can't get engine to turn over. Very frustrated. Need help...
I brought my Spectra-G out for it's first flight of the day and everything wen't fine. After about four pulls the engine started up fine and the flight was good. About a half hour later I tried starting the engine. I could not get it to start. I tried changing the spark plug, no luck. I checked for any loose electrical connections. Found none. I checked for spark. Spark looks good. Checked needle settings. Everything was fine. After trying the pull start until my arm just about fell off, I decided to head home for the day. At home I tried it again. After about four pulls it started I thought it must have been some type of a fluke. Again I drove to the field and tried to start it. Again it would not start no matter what I did. I'm very frustrated Any suggestion as to what could be causing this?

Does the motor turn over or is it locking up tight. Can't tell the way your describing it.

Sorry for the bad description. The motor turns over but dosen't fire. I was finally able to get it to run again. Possibly I had the low speed needle vale too lean. I richened it about an 1/8 turn it it started after about two pulls.

Yep, The gassers don't have a big variation in needle settings and the high to low settings tie in together to get a great running engine.
Have you done a SEARCH on needle settings. There have been good topics posted on it here even though most are setting for the Toxic engines they will be close to a stock engine.

The stock G-231 and the TRM modified motors needle settings will be very close, at least initially. As the TRM G-231 gets broken-in, the high end needle will need to be richened as the motor is making more power and requires more fuel; close to 2 turns out when broken-in IS NOT unusual.
If the low needle is too lean the motor will not start or if it does will not run correctly. You have a good indication of when the low needle is very close when it starts first pop when the motor is warm and nearly immediately when the motor first turns over when cold (as long as fuel has been pulled up to the carb). Remember, the Spectra-G due to its gear ratio, will hover almost entirely on the high needle with little influence from the bottom needle. The bottom needle's influence at this point only helps in the transition into the high needle as the high needle does nearly all of the work. Hope this helps!

Dash, John is one of the top 3 in the USA at setting up gassers. I take his info and try to keep it in the memory bank but as I get older my bank get smaller and smaller. Man I hate that!
BTW the other two gurus are Billme, and Dr Tim.
