Yes! I would definitely buy a solid (no OWB) 14t pinion and 13t pinion for my 6s mini if someone made one.

the one good thing is that the pinion isn't cracked but the owb isn't holding , is there a better owb that i can substitute with this one?

The t-rex 250 OWB fits apparently, no clue how to get it in though, I have a HK250 OWB sitting around, but haven't gotten around to trying to fit it in a pinion yet.

I would think the 250 OWB would just not be strong enough to hold up to far more mass but hard to tell till it is tried. I will try the warp pinion tonight.

Mate of mine has actually swapped them out... he is going to do it for me as well once I can get a new pinion..

He uses a press... the same one they use to swap out motor shafts

If it's the same physical size as the stock one, I don't see why it wouldn't.

Honestly, I'm ready to abandon the whole idea of the OWB in the pinion. I think it's a really dumb idea, I always have. <shrug>

Oh, and of course when I got my order together at Helidirect, they are out of stock on the damn 15T pinions anyway!

I posted this in the lynx forum as well:

I would really like to see Dylan's pinion from Astroid designs materialize and at least get tested. We have tried and cannot find anyone that can/will machine it.

Post 21, I believe.
It seems to be a great idea....

+1, this looks like a possible solution. But as you said, proof is in the pudding.

I'd love to see either Dylan's design or a solid pinion with a "normal" OWB in the main gear. Yes, I realize we'd lose the driven tail in autos, but I would much rather have a reliable flight than tail control in an auto. Besides, the Mini is only slightly better at autos than a manhole cover anyway!

Default these pinions are really starting to suck.

With the tight belt radius around the pulley it really causes a lot if drag. So a main gear OWB would give a lot more free wheeling. Well got the gear and did a test flight and so quiet no bearing noise from a bad pinion or the little bearing for the motor shat. The belt came off but not sure if I goofed or the belt stretched as it was really loose when I got it back on. The belt us soft compared to a new one.

that's the warp pinion on a 3.17 shaft. wanted to go for 4mm but I could not find the shaft and pinion all in one spot and I was too broke to buy both.

Foofer

What holds the pinion on? Did you have to file a flat on the motor shaft for a grub screw?
