Maidened my 7HV this morning. Went well, flew well. Got the tail gain dialed in pretty decent.
Flies pretty nice even though its alot slower on cyclic than my Goblin. Its a welcome break as this 7HV will be my low HS slow big air and 3D machine.
Very happy so far.

You can speed up the cyclic as fast as you want its all in the FBL controller. But I am sure you know this already I am flying both and cyclic feels very similar. I think only the off center feel might be a little quicker on goblin.

I fly about 1700 to 1800 has on my 7hv with a heli jive and its perfect. And yes I do hard 3d but also do big air moves that eat space up quick.

Yeah, I've had to slow the Goblin way down. The 7HV I'm sure I'll have to speed up a little bit. Still have quite a bit to dial in. Like I said, the 7HV will be my slower, smooth 3D machine.

"Flies pretty nice even though its alot slower on cyclic than my Goblin. Its a welcome break as this 7HV will be my low HS slow big air and 3D machine. "

This is just the reverse of my experience-I have been flying them back to back for comparison purposes.

I have a 7HV and a Goblin, with identical cyclic servos, both V-Bar equipped, etc. The Goblin has an advantage that it uses a Kontronic 120 ESC which has an excellent governor.

The Goblin, while pretty quick, is a bit lethargic on cyclic compared to the 7HV, even with the agility turned up higher on the Goblin. The 7HV, tuned properly, is extremely quick on cyclic.

I am hoping, through continued tuning, the Goblin can be sped up a bit. I may change the blades also (it has SAB Main Blades on it now)

i feel the same.

i have gob7 and 7hv.

proteks 250t cyclic on 7hv might be the deciding factor on why

in Ah Clem's case it probably is the blades..

And in your case crf69 it is those monster servos for sure...

almost bought a pair over the weekend, but didn't pull the trigger

What I did pull the trigger on though is a new Warp!!

Thank you for posting the blades on both machines, sir.

I have the stock SAB's on the Goblin, and Maverick G5's on the 7HV.

The 7HV is considerably quicker.

It would be interesting to swap the blades and see what happens. I will have to try that.

My Odin II with a 7HV head and Radix Main Blades on it, is considerably quicker than the Goblin as well (same servos, but BeastX FBL unit).

The Goblin is very smooth and symmetrical in its flight characteristics (no bad habits), just not what I had hoped for, based on what I have been reading on the forums. I will also try increasing the agility further in the V-Bar programming. This is my sixth V-Bar so I am reasonably familiar with the tuning/adjustment process.

Goblins are well known for agility. My Goblin is almost too agile, that's why I had to turn it down some. It's easily the most agile 700 I've owned, even more so than my X5. It became much more agile when I installed the BD3SX, when I switched from beastx.
This is not necessarily a good thing IMHO.

SMarvin,

"What head are you guys running on the gobbler?"

Goblin is running stock, swashdriverless head. I have not tried the HPS head.

Seefest,

"Goblins are well known for agility"

That is one of the reasons I wanted it, so I am a bit disappointed, as you might expect. I will continue to work with it to attempt to improve it. I have a bit more latitude for increasing the agility on the V-Bar. Again, it is pleasant and does what I ask of it, but I just expected something really, really quick, like the 7HV.

no way is my gob7 more agile than my X5.

On the v bar I put my style slider up to 110 percent. That seems to make the cyclic feel very responsive seems like a lot of guys run the styles low and to me that felt terrible. I hated the v bar till I cranked the style slider up to 110

I'm not sure I've come to have a good grasp on the settings available on Vbar, even after flying three of them. I was running Style on 100 late last season and tried lowering it significantly a couple of weeks ago. I can't say I like it completely. Vivid vs Precise. What does that mean? I expected it to smooth out the moves a bit with the setting reduced (towards "Vivid"), but unsure I can tell it does that. Certainly though, the 7HV flies incredibly agile.

I must say though, that blades are a HUGE variable in any comparison of birds. The amount of inertia they have, and the precise location of CG are the biggest factors in how the heli would handle and it's why blades are the personal preference they are known to be. I can attest that the Mavrikk G5 Pro WC FBL blades were like a sledgehammer when I first flew them on my 7HV! They hit hard and were really snappy. They put the loud in the bark. The Rail 696's are smoother and trade that for agility. The Mavrikks have a more aggressive response in all measures.

The style setting really changes the over all feel of the v bar. I have heard running it high makes the helicopter feel more robotic. Running it low feels more loke a fly bar. To me running it low made the sticks feel mushy and less precise. Running it high made the helicopter feel more presise and the sticks felt more connected.

I am not exactly sure what it does or why it does it but that is how I describe what that setting does. I loved my v bar till the sensor died I did not have it very long but I went back to beast x because that has been reliable for me for several years and it does the job well..

Blades do make a big difference and after a blade change fbl settings sometimes need to b adjusted flybar blades will give u really fast cyclic but u loose a little stability..
