Hi Guys,

Just checking in again to read the responses about the headless monster

In contrast, I took the T-Rex out for it's first post re-build flight. As it's NYE, I went to the pub to have a drink with some mates and show them how my flying had impoved (). I managed 8 mins of flight and a safe landing, in a misty -3 deg, underneath floodlight's - almost night flying!!! Had ice forming up on the wings it was that cold, and my hands were shaking the tx too!!!

Still managed some fairly stable flying - I have to comment on the improvment in stability the t-rex has over the belt, and that's despite all the upgrade's it received. I can only put it down to the weak frame and power-lacking stock motor (which both parts were on my upgrade list already).

I am faced with a dilemma though....should I keep the belt alive and re-build with G10 superframe from Mr.Onehot69sidestep? Or, should I order Copterx t-rex clone??? I am startin to sway back to a belt re-build (with better ESC/motor), as I think it would be cheaper than new copterx setup with ESC/motor?? Hmmm, well I haven't got the money for either yet, so any advice to help me make the right choice would be welcome.

Ps. Promise I'll do a vid of the t-rex tooo.
PPs...Happy New Year for later, I'll be round the neighbours house getting (more)merrier so I got to go and get ready...
PPs. Jonni - Bring on Summertime 2009 I can't wait. I'll be able to fly down the local park till almost 10pm!!!

It's not a vid, but I guess I probably shouldn't show you this fuselage for your mXC,

And I probably shouldn't give you this link where I got it

Morning Guys, and a Happy New Year to you.

Have put the Logictech 3100g servo onto the tail, first at 6v, then regulated to 5.1v. Test flown at both voltages and holding is excellent. Will leave it at 5.1v as there is PLENTY of performance.

Mike

PS Not nursing a headache, but then again, I do not ever get hangovers!!!!!

Hey, don't feel so bad. After all it is the new year which means a new start. Which means a new heli.

If the wife says you buy helicopters too much just say "Hey, this is the only heli i've bought this year!"

None yet, but I'm meeting a guy at the LHS to look at an HB 2 and Belt that he wants to get rid of. He said really cheap if I take both.

Jack, how does the control system work on the tandem rotor you have? Seeing the tiltrotor "Osprey" at the Farnborough air show got me thinking.....................

Hi Mike -

I happen to have the Chinook apart on my bench now, figuring that out.

The front white box is the speed control and gyro, and the back white box is the reciever and mixer. The 2 black boxes on top are the servos.

Each servo has a Push/pull wheel on it and long connection rods to the front and back motor mounts.

It's basically 2 co-axs mounted back to back with some magic electronics.

My Phoenix sim has a tilt rotor, but I've never been able to fly it without crashing

Just got home after a great afternoon and evening.

Had a teriffic dinner at a friend's house including some really good venison.

After dinner I helped him learn to fly the Heli-Max he got for Christmas and put a batt thru the ol' Belt in the driveway.

Then went over to the local range and burned ammo until they closed.

Food, flying and shooting. Yeah Baby!

I'v spend 100 $ trying to get my son more involved in this hobby but as soon as something breaks he just forgets about it.. But he is loving my MCX and flies it more then me..lol Also likes when I go out with the belt since I never land save and always pile it... He thinks that is just great. I lift off go up and slam, right into the ground. Makes him start rolling with laughter as I'm crying about having to wait for parts...

Half the hobby (Or more) is fixing (Which is half the fun) And if your the type that doesn't like fixing things then I guess this hobby isn't for him. How old is he? As he get's older he might like the thought of building helicopters and could get into this hooby.

Apparently (This came up in discussion the other day) when it was like my 2nd or 3rd birthday I got a black and decker electric screwdriver. At the time I really wanted one of those green bosch screwdrivers and swapped my b&d for my dads bosch lol. But now I appreciate that black and decker screw driver. Now I want to find it lol. It's somewhere in my dads garage
