Default Pyro 800-48L on Logo XXtreme

Any thoughts on running the Pyro 800-48L on the XX instead of the 800-40??

According to Mr Mel's headspeed calc it would give the Kosmik's governor a lot more head room than the 800-40 (Be down in the 63 % range instead of up around 80%)

According to Mr Mel's headspeed calc:
(14S setup)
Pyro 800 400 kv for logo 800
Pyro 800 480 kv for logo 700

That's actually what Kontronik recomends for the Jive/Heli Jive in thier instructions.

Kosmik wants ~80% as the sweet spot but with the stock pinion if you run the 400KV motor your above 80% when running 753s

I understand

When I talked to Kontronik they said the Kosmik would have no problems running in the mid 60s. They also said that if it ran to much above 80% (Where you would need to run it when running 753s) then you may run into a problem at the end of your flight with the Govenor not having enough head room with weak batteries.

It flies REALLY well (MUCH more power than the Scorp on a full pitch pull out) but the Kosmik seems to be overheating after some REALLY REALLY hard 3d.

Working with Kontronik to try to figure out what is going on.

It hasn't yet.

On the one flight that was ultra hard 3d it came down blinking 3 times and when we looked at the logs from the Kosmik it was getting close to thermaling.

This was with the canopy off and a fairly cool day (~70F)

I really wish Mikado would release a few more pinions for the 700/800 (Both lower and higher) because a 16 tooth pinion (Or 15) would be very nice to have (Then we could actually do some comparisons with the Kosmik's logging to see what's going on)
