Just took a vid of my 550 last night. I'm still not done, its a work in progress. I'm planning 2 sets of night blades, one with the usual 20ma LEDs and the other with just one or two 140ma max hi powered leds running off of 350ma lipos.

Looking good. nice smooth slow piro.

same color led on top and bottom of the blade certainly confuse my eye a little.

No, thats just my crappy 6MP camera. I have white LEDs on the top, blue on the bottom, and green on the tips.

Some night flight footage of my Atom 500 at the Southern Rotary Classic this year. My wife was having trouble keeping the camera steady and following the heli, so I flew slower than normal.

Nice set up, great flying.
that inner blue led appears to go on and off. Is that by design or a loose contact?
If by design, what did you do?

Very nicely done I was looking for something like those a while back but I gave up on that little project and just went with standard night blades. Might talk with the folks at Edge to see if the can embed it into the blade itself... again very impressive. did you design the circuit board yourself ?

Here is a rather boring test flight of my Gaui 550 lit up for night. Wish I could get RGB blades that do images :?

Yes well spotted best tail blade I have used to be honest. I would prefer some edge night blades I think but these work good also :-)

thanks for the compliments :-)

Maiden flight of "Version 1." I orient a lot using the skids, so I need to light them up somehow. Still making up my mind on how I want to do that; lots of good options in this forum. Also trying to decide if I want to light up the tail rotor or not and if so, how. I'm trying to keep this as simple and minimal as possible.

Nice video guys/gals which ever applies. On those DIY night blades, have you ever thought about trying to find RGB leds so that the blades change colors ???

No, not really. I like one color on the top of the blades and another color on the bottom. In my opinion, it makes orientation easier. Changing colors could make it confusing to fly.

RGB LEDs would need 4 wires each. That could really make wiring complicated, and would add to weight.

Hi All,

Some movies from my night LED setup on 450

Made it visible during the night, and also makes flying more comfortable during day/sunset
