Default Do I want a 200QX?

Hey guys,

I have dusted off my nQX recently and am really enjoying it for indoor flying (and out in my cul-de-sac when it's not breezy). I fly CP heli's normally, but think I'd like a more capable quad for trying out AP and FPV eventually, but also as something convenient to take with me for public field flying etc. I don't want a dedicated AP quad, as I'm not sure that it is that big of a draw for me over just the enjoyment of flying it fast etc.

With the firmware update, the ability to fly inverted is also a big bonus for me. The reviews seem good. Is there anything I should research further before jumping on a 200QX?

I'm thinking that this would be a very capable and solid choice to see if I like the whole quad experience and possibilities that come with it over single rotor CP heli's.

Thoughts?

I have the 180 QX, 350 QX, 200 SR X Heli and just bought my 2nd 200 QX. BY FAR my favorite is the 200 QX. Plain and simple the 200 QX is bad ass to fly. It is very fast and I love zipping this thing around. If you want something that is a complete blast to fly the 200 QX is it. You will love it.

I would recommend the 200 all day! The ONLY downside to the inverted flying is the reduced flight times with the 3d props. I went from seven + minutes to 3 minutes. Even the sport props reduce flight times. Overall though, this little beast will blow you away!!! Buy lots of batteries!!!

Oh, and the frame is a tad fragile, but you can read the many posts on here about aftermarket carbon frames. Happy flying!

Thanks for the answers, guys! Exactly what I was hoping to hear and pretty much what o expected after watching some YouTube vids. It look really impressive.

A couple more questions, if you don't mind...

Is there a specific carbon frame set that is getting the nod as the standout?

What does the sport prop do that the stockers don't? More pitch?

What's the general consensus on which camera is best suited to it in terms of weight to quality ratio?

Does inverted flight mimic CP heli's where pulling down on throttle stick from mid stick increase power, or is throttle still controlled linearly from 0-100 even when inverted?

I'm using this frame http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...postcount=3629
Made by a guy in Switzerland, a frame doesn't come any stronger this one guys AND, it's only 23 grams which is 50% lighter than stock

When mid = no lift, similar to a cp heli.

The feel is very different as the lag to stop/start props is noticabe compared to just changing pitch on the cp heli.

In my opinion it is just as much fun to fly in red agility mode.

So I took the plunge and ordered one today.

Can any of you give me the run down and the must-haves (aside the Phoenix frame)?

Which batteries are you guys happy with? (assuming not being limited by stock frame)

What camera gear is worth looking into?

Super excited for this little quad!

Firmware Update Cable

After (if) you update the firmware, you just re-bind with rudder held left and , BAM new flight modes. Then if you want to go back, just rebind with rudder held right! NO radio setup for update is required. It just works. Half stick 0 thrust just like a heli.

These Turnigy 950mah will fit in the stock frame, but they are tight. I use them on my carbon frame, and love them! I have good luck with the stock batteries also but they are expensive!

For FPV I haven't tried yet, but Horizons new FPV setup looks perfect for the 200 qx! Although it IS on backorder at the moment.

For general flight videos (for viewing on Youtube or such) many like

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mobius-Actio...item5b055f8367 .

Good luck, You're gonna love this quad! Happy flyin,
Smitty
