Default Tail in to all 8's with phoenix help

First of all I'm new to the hobby. Started with syma s107 and progressed to a WL v911(loved this heli) and now I have a few Collective pitch micros. Nano CPX, MCP X, and MCPX BL aswell as a Nano QX. I've been flying CP for about 2 months give or take. Tail in hovers are strong as well was flips and rolls. Very shaky with inverted hovers but I am comfortable bailing out back upright when I get in a jam. I want to start using this guide to get some good practice in but I have phoenix 5 sim. I don't know how to setup my dx6i/phoenix to piro at the rate of 1/60sec. Would anyone be able to enlighten me on how they set this up. I've only had the phoenix sim for about a week. Id really appreciate the help.

There should be a trim slider or switch underneath the rudder stick. Move it left or right until the radio starts to give constant rudder input so the heli is continuously circling right or left

Yes I saw that but it doesn't seem to have the correct rotation speed. Too fast or too slow.

I think a little fast or slow doesn't matter to much, the idea is to have the helicopter pirouetting constantly with no input to force you to use the collective from all orientations.

I vary the speed that I do this exercise at all the time from about 2 rotations a minute to about 12

Ok thanks!! Is there a way to lock an altitude? Or remove rudder/throttle input?

From inside of phoenix I dont know. When I first started I would give just enough throttle to get the heli a foot ot two off the ground, use the rudder trim to start the heli spinning, and then take my finger off the stick.

You dont start using the rudder \ throttle stick till exercise 4.

Firstly, Thank you Himilou, you answered the same way i would have.

Secondly, in Phoenix you can take hands off throttle once set, Heli-X (and IRL in the wind) translational lift will get you.

As you said, a little too fast or too slow for rotation is OK. The main goal is to ensure you do not rotate fast enough that you can wait for a comfortable orientation to correct in. Ie. slower is better till never crashing (then start moving to defined point and stopping, this means the set and forget collective really goes bye-bye).

Thanks so much guys. Just did my first 15 min session upright CW and I had 8 crashes. That was at 100% speed. Not to bad for first run.

Not bad. It gets better from here.

P.S. You will hate me in a months time when you start inverted.

OP,

I have Phoenix. Of course you can use it to follow Arch's program. But imo the training tools in Heli-X will make it so much easier that you will likely progress faster. Its well worth the price for that alone. Try it out for free and see what you think.

I have tried it and I do like it however I have already purchased phoenix and no funds to buy yet another simulator.

And you need a different cable. The Phoenix cable does not work with Heli-X.
