The top tab on mine is broke like in the above post. I just used some dense foam and a zip tie. The mounting tabs on the YGE is a poor design and the only thing I don't like about it.

Corvette Guy, do you have a picture of that? From your description it sounds like you put a foam piece between the heli and the YGE and zip tied the entire unit. Is that correct, or did you use the remaining 2 plastic posts and guid up the foam piece to reach the ESC? I appreciate the input.

Oh and yes, I think this a terrible design. Can't believe such a highly respected engineering company decided to hang this big ESC on 3 plastic posts, and so far above the frame. Since Ive started looking into this, i can see it's a problem and complaint by MANY 800 owners.

Guy
I'm still using the lower two tabs. The foam is between the heli and YGE (upper part only) and zip tied around the frame. The foam is dense so not a lot of give. Does not look pretty but it works. I might go Kontronic but not sure yet. If you still want a pic let me know and I will take one and post it.

The explanation is enough, I can picture it now. I did order a Kosmic Cool 160 yesterday, but I'm still having a hard time throwing away the YGE, what a waste of money! Nothings cast in stone until I open the box. All 3 tabs are gone on mine, so it'll be a pretty ugly rigging. It does seem like the new ESC is the proper way to go.

I'm use a Castle 160 in my Xxtreme 700 till I find out about my YGE. If I can use a Cool Kontronic 160 or 200 (using internal bec with no backup) in my 800 (with stock Scorpion motor) I would switch. I would like to know if anyone has gone that route.

No need to throw away (if it still works right ) .

You can do the post mod I did ( converted my undamaged 160 to the post method last night ) or use it in a goblin. I built a goblin 700 on 14s and put the yge in there (with 800 heatsink ) wedged between the frames with some one sided foam tape around both sides.

Or do the strap method like corvette did.

Just be sure to inspect for damages to board , don't want a failure to bring you down

Martin, thanks for the suggestion. The more I get into this the more I realize I don't have to buy a new ESC. I'll get handy on building the posts and reset the YGE for governor mode and re check everything. I clearly see the cause of my problems now. It says right in the manual for the 800 that the YGE is specifically designed by Mikado to work in conjunction with the Vbar, and that to use it on any other setup will require resetting the YGE to run in governor mode. I didn't build it, so never read that page, and the guy that put the Demon in for me was never told by me that this had to be done. I can get a YGE Program card, reset the governor and build the posts that you did and save a LOT of money. I'll be very careful through this process.
Thanks so much for the advice.

Check with electro rc. There the us yge dealer

Or contact Eugene at Rotorquest. He knows how or how to get it unlocked

If I recall right a prog card won't unlock it

It can be done though

Sorry no experience here either. I'm running All vbars

Just when I thought I had it figured out, LOL. I have a friend that has a YGE Programmer that and am set up to get it from him wednesday. In the meantime, the Kontronik came in today, so one way or another, it should be back in the air soon. I'll research the YGE tomorrow,
Thanks,
Guy
