Default The last P700 info was more than 1 month ago.. Corrado, we need to be fed with info!

We've not seen any info on the P700 in a while.

Can you update us?

I can't wait to hit the pre-order button!

I sold my 500 and am waiting on the 700 to be released. All I have for now to fly are my planes and my Outrage 550.

There are a lot of 700's to pick from that are very good. My guess is that the Protos 700 will have lower crash costs than many of them, but many of them fly fantastic.

You could get something like a Logo 600 SX. It is noticably bigger than a Protos 500 and has similar design priorities, ie. light weight and great flight characteristics.

That's the problem, there are too many and I'm yet to find one that seems perfect, I have high hopes for the P700.
All the other 700's I'm sure are all fine, but they each have pro's and cons, when making a $3k+ investment, i'd like to have as little cons as possible

Purchase, not investment, an investment has a reasonable chance of being worth more in the future...

Hehe, I went to change that word after I wrote it, but left it, makes me feel better, as I should be spending my money on investments, but they aren't as fun as heli's!

It has been umm... 'reliably suggested' to me that not only are heli's a waste of money but a waste of time too....I'm having a spot of bother trying to argue against her logic

In any cae, P700, awesome vids from Alpine Heli Smackdown this year. Did you hear the noise? Awesomenous. But... probably not for me for a 'very' long time I suspect. Even if I could, I would probably wait a bit and see what the early adopters have to say

.. but umm... I guess we need a heli to have early adopters first.

It comes when it comes. I'd rather have it be right than rushed.

Ha! Excellent Point! I see "Investment" used every day and always think it's funny!

The best you can do is buy something that you absolutely love and don't want to sell shortly after getting it.

That is one reason I got a TDR, but it had already been in production for 2 years before I ordered on and it had many many people who considered it a best of breed product.

The Diabolo was just released about the time I ordered my TDR and has gone through some teething pains, but appears to be very well sorted now and would also be a cool heli to own.

I have no regrets getting the TDR. At least for me it has been a great choice.

The Protos 700 seems like it would be a cheap to crash 700 series heli, but otherwise I don't expect it will do anything particularly better than some of the others already out there.

There are some 700's I would not be happy with and they would have been a great waste of money so I'm glad I didn't go there.

I'd pay to fly the prototype!

The sound at least will be unique.

I think it will be a bit lighter than the existing 700's as its drive train is very simple.
The lightweight factor will help in every aspect of the heli, from performance to crash costs.

I have researched nearly all the existing 700's that are available right now.
Top of the list is the diabolo...

I seriously doubt that it will be that much lighter than a TDR. My guess is that putting a Scorpion vs. a Pyro in it will cancel out any difference in weight.

A TDR flies just as well as many other helis that are running head speeds 300 rpm faster. Recently I had a sponsored pilot fly my TDR and he thought the head speeds were closer to 2300rpm, but the tach said 1883 rpm.

In fact since the TDR is so effiecient that you could run twin 3300mah packs and still get respectable air time, however they make the TDR a bit too floaty.

I was getting 6-7 minute flight times out of 4000mah packs and went to 4400mah packs just to increase the weight not because I wanted more flight time.

BTW my TDR is quieter than my Protos 500... No exaggeration.

I don't think the Protos 700 will be light enough that it will fly noticably different and in fact I think you will end up choosing batteries to get the right amount of ballast for it to fly well. However the larger gears and long belt could introduce a gyroscopic effect that might make it fly a bit differently. That is just a wild guess not rooted in any calculations.

I do think the Protos 700 will have a very good following because of its simplicity, sound and crash costs. It will also likely have a much stronger supply chain with more readily available parts than the TDR or Diabolo.

The Diabolo is very nice and is definitely on my list for potential builds. It is a bit heavier than a TDR with more metal in it and a 30mm boom, however it is designed to handle meatier power plants like the Pyro 800. It really isn't a 750mm class heli. They've found that 742mm is the longest blades it can run and the people who've tried it all went back to 710mm's or 696mm's because the cyclic response seemed to suffer.

And it'll be working properly instead of being rushed to market and using customers as beta testers. (Insert other company names here)

No rush now, I bought an in betweener 700, so my 700 needs are satisfied for a while, but I don't think I'm the only one hanging for the P700...
I guess you are making a couple changes so it can fit a kosmik esc easily?

I am waiting for the P700 also, but in the meantime I came up with this idea. How about someone post a new thread 'Corrado Speaks ' and have the forum moderator make it a sticky. It would kinda be like, the Master coming down an Italian mountain top to speak words of wisdom to waiting throngs of followers. We would not have to search hundreds of threads to see what he has to say, on various MSH topics.
LMAO

Just kidding,
Roger
