HELP!! Sk540 won't connect

I have 2 sk540's that had firmware 3.10 - I noticed on both that when I reset the setup it popped up with an error sending to gyro. At this point, the connected box was green.

I checked for updates and let it do its thing - but the light never flashed red and green- just red. Then it would not show connected. I did this on both of them.

I was given these, so I'm not sure if these are prototypes or something. The serial numbers were in the range of 1200-1500.

I'm hoping this is an easy problem to fix if I explained it well. Thanks in advance for help!!

Have you tried to de-install and re-install the latest software package on your computer then connect the unit and update it? Also try a different USB cable/port. Both not connecting point toward a connection issue to the computer. Let's try this and let us know.

I installed the latest firmware from skookum- it didn't resolve it. I have also tried different USB ports with no luck. I'm afraid I screwed them up trying to update the unit without being on the latest firmware.
If I had to send them in- I'd be happy. Like I had mentioned, these were given to me "nib" so that could be a factor. I don't know.

In the future, always perform the firmware update with the gyro powered by a battery or BEC. This ensures there's no power disruption during the update.

I got it updated! I had to use a windows 7 computer and the bec to update it. Now, when I connect it to my windows 8 computer, it works fine.

The header on my gyro screen says sk 540 lite, and I only have one bank. Is this normal??

=] if the gyro case is clear / transparent then yes that's normal, you can pay a small charge on the SK www site to upgrade it.

If its a red case then the firmware has mistakenly downgraded it, which SK can unlock if you send them your serial #

Yeah, my case is red. As long as there is no adverse affect- I'm flying it.

=] you lost the gov. and have one of each banks, it's sate to use, but get on to SK for the upgrade, don't purchase it!

Weird. But I won't use an external gov or the second bank- so it might work in my favor. Plus, the heli it is on is a lite (800/7s), so it is a nice coincidence for the name.
