Default 500 build motors Hyperion/Scorpoin or Other set ups

Time to pick out a motor for the 500 build.
Heli set up to date
ESC Ice2 HV80
Servos Align/Savox over sized tail servo
Extended tail boom
Blades 475 to 520 mm with 12mm R
3 bearing main shaft system
Helical main gear

Would like to have a motor that could handle more than 6 cells. I'm having problems finding spec's on input volts for all the motors on the market.

Thats the basic heli setup What size would work best ?

The Hyperion and the Scorpion motors have the same part numbers

Hyperion/Scorpion 3026-1600
Hyperion/Scorpion 3026-1400
Hyperion/Scorpion 4020-1390

Cheaper motors
Turnigy Typhoon 500H-1800

Even the stock kit motors from other heli's are fine just don't know what I could fit or what could work in this setup.

Thanks for helping

If Align put their name on a pile of dog crap stuck 2 blades in it and packaged it in a super combo, people would get in line to pre order. I just dont get it

what cell count do you want to run.

the Kv on all those motors will be too high for even 8S

Attached is the Scorpion Applications Guide.
It details what you are looking for.
Specifically including the exact 3 scorpion motors you mentioned.

I'll be using the HK-4025-630 in my 12S build.

Turnigy - Whatever docs you can google up. It's Turnigy.
If you want good docs and parts availability stay scorpion.

Or Hyperion if you trust the their motors to be true carbon
copies of Scorpion motors, or rebadges of scorpion motors.
My trust level in that is diminished by the fact that I can't
find any true specs on hyperion motors, not like I can
find for scorpion motors. Others like hyperion motors and
say they are zactly the same. I have no doubt that I could
cross a hyperion motor to a scorpion motor and be happy.
I choose not to because of vaguarities when I want to buy parts
like shafts and C-Clips and bearings.

I use the 1400 in my 500.
It's a 6S motor. Same with the 1600.

This is also a 6S motor according to the applications guide.

What kind of 3rd bearing block are you putting in?
I'm considering using a 3rd I2 block. It would be the tightest
but also the heaviest.

I'm also thinking that a cheaper align block might be just fine,
But I can't inadvertently introduce any mainshaft/bearing slop
in my attempt to do this. Maybe an align block with an abec5
or 7 ceramic bearing.

All is detailed in the guide. There is only 1 KV choice
for some of the motors.
This is a direct copy/paste from the applications guide:
============================================

HK-4025 Series Motors
The HK-4025 series of motors is designed for helicopters with 600 to 650mm blades such as the Logo 600
and Trex 600. There are 4 motors available in this series, for a variety of battery sizes and gearing options.
Here is a list of the basic specs for these motors.
HK-4025-630, Kv = 630, Pmax = 2520W, Imax = 60 Amps
HK-4025-740, Kv = 740, Pmax = 24500W, Imax = 70 Amps
HK-4025-890, Kv = 890, Pmax = 23800W, Imax = 85 Amps
HK-4025-1100, Kv = 1100, Pmax = 2200W, Imax = 100 Amps
The 1100Kv motor is designed for operation on 6 Li-Po cells, the 890Kv motor is designed for use on 8 Li-Po cells, the 740Kv motor is designed for use on 10 Li-Po cells, and the 630 Kv motor is for use with 12 LiPo cells.

Why not just buy/build a bigger heli that is made for what you want to do?

I like building stuff. Thats just me, I can't leave anything stock for to long. I'm changing the set up or making my own parts. I find it to be just as much fun making stuff as flying.
I know where I want to go with the build but want to fly a little during the build so a set up that I can change around a little is good for me. Plus as you just said why not get a bigger heli..... I'm sure I well some day and most of what I have will work in a 550 or 600 class heli.

After a lot of setups on paper I believe this is the best power to weight for my needs

This is what I'm going with .....
Castle Creations Ice2 80HV
Castle Creations BEC-Pro ( high input volts )
Scorpion 4020-910-5mm
Battery
9s 3-3s 2200 Mah (13T,14T,15T) for head speed tuning (Total battery weight 559g)
8s 2-4s 2650mah (15T,16T,17T) for head speed tuning (Total battery weight 582g)
I will have 5 pinions to do some testing with. I think this is a good starting point.
